The reunion had more drama than anyone bargained for.

Fans of the reality series Love Is Blind had a lot to look forward to at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 16, 2023. For the first time ever, Netflix planned to live stream a reunion episode, which could only mean one thing: a lot of drama.

Well, if drama was what Netflix was going for, they got in spades—though perhaps not in the way they hoped. So many fans tried to watch the live reunion that it apparently crashed the streaming platform, leaving many waiting over an hour (75 minutes to be exact) to see what, if anything, the cast was going to reveal.

And there was plenty to look back on, like Paul telling Micah "I don't" at the altar, Irina's treatment of Zack and the Marshall-Jackie-Josh love triangle. Kwame and Chelsea opened about some of the surprising reactions they've received from people hiding behind computers, and fan favorites Tiffany and Brett confirmed that their love is the real thing.

When Netflix eventually did begin streaming the reunion, it wasn't live and it wasn't available to everyone. Eventually, the entire thing was released worldwide at 12 p.m. ET on April 17, 2023.

While most of the cast has remained pretty quiet in the wake of the storm, a few members have spoken out since the reunion aired.

Vanessa Lachey

Co-host Vanessa Lachey was one of the first to respond to the massive failure at Netflix when she went live on Instagram Sunday night to say that fans had "broken the internet" and caused the delay.

On April 17, Vanessa shared a photo of herself, husband Nick Lachey and the cast on Instagram. She captioned it, "Season 4 @loveisblindnetflix REUNION, That’s A Wrap! For those of you who got to see it LIVE, Thank You for watching and those that didn’t… it will be up by noon tomorrow!I want to take a moment, on this platform, to acknowledge the intense vulnerability that goes into our show (each season). I’m so proud of this cast and their willingness to put themselves out there. It wasn’t easy and this has been a LONG process to get to the reunion.

Please keep in mind online (and in life) that “words have weight”. What you say to someone you don’t know (and don’t know the whole story to) can have a lasting affect on them… in many different ways. Mental health should always be treated with respect. There’s always help. @officialwondermind ❤️❤️❤️❤️Now let’s show some Love to our three beautiful married couples and our 4 incredible singles ready to take on their next chapter."

Brett Brown

Fan favorite Brett Brown shared the same photo that Vanessa Lachey posted alongside his own caption. Brown made it clear that he was proud of his fellow castmates for showing up.

As he put it, "I know last night wasn’t what many of you expected but I had a blast nonetheless. Getting on this stage to discuss interpersonal issues in front of the whole world takes a lot so I commend all my fellow cast mates for their bravery and willingness to be open and vulnerable. I’m grateful to have shared this stage with everyone! In spite of the circumstances, this is a night I’ll never forget 🙌🏾."

Bliss Poureetezadi

While Poureetezadi didn't post anything on her grid about the delay, she did update her Instagram Stories to apologize to fans.

"So many of you have reached out about the delay yesterday," she wrote. "I'm so sorry to those who waited and to those who weren't able to access the show. I know that's disappointing. It does show the number of amazing, loyal fans we have, y'all broke the internet! The wait is almost over, it will be streaming on Netflix at 12 pm PT TODAY! I am so excited for more of you to see it."

Zack Goyotowski

Lawyer Goyotowski, who married Poureetezadi in the show's conclusion, took to Instagram on April 17 to share a deeply personal story about mental health following the finale.

"My senior year in high school, I was filled with anger and range," he wrote. "My mother's mental illness and addiction were out of control. Sometimes I would come home, and my entire room would be destroyed, walls smashed with a hammer, clothes thrown about after my mother had gone into a manic state. As a teenager, I would do anything to avoid going home. And as soon as I got home, I would lock myself in my room. Sometimes my mother would disappear for days, and I wouldn't know where she and my sister were. By the time I got to high school, I lost track of how many different homes I had lived in. There was no stability. Every time I made a friend, I'd have to move on and say goodbye."

Goyotowski went on to describe the anger he felt then, and adds that he didn't understand mental health at the time. His mother would show up unannounced at his friend's homes and yell at everyone until he came home; on the night she dedicated "I Hope You Dance" to him, she had also threatened to end her own life.

Eventually, he continues, he found a way to forgive his mother. Shortly thereafter, he found out his mom was homeless and avoided his calls so that he wouldn't find out. With patience and grace, his mother was able to get clean and to care for Goyotowski and his sister.

As he concludes, "Grace isn't fair. But if we choose to give it every day, we make the world a better place for everyone."
