Before Chayce Beckham was crowned the next American Idol winner, Casey Bishop took the stage one last time during the 2021 season finale.

A week after coming in fourth place and her shocking elimination from the ABC competition show, the 16-year-old vocalist returned to perform Bon Jovi’s hit song “Livin’ On A Prayer” with fellow Idol judge Luke Bryan. Ahead of the performance, the country music star teased on Instagram that he and Casey had an exciting surprise in store.

“@caseybishop_ and I worked up something fun for y’all tonight on the #AmericanIdol season finale! Don’t miss it!” Luke wrote alongside photos of the two together.

But while the rock-and-roll track had fans jamming on the couch at home, some viewers took to social media once again to express their disappointment that Casey wasn't competing in the finale.

“I think there's a lot of us in agreement here - this girl was the real American Idol this season,” one person wrote on YouTube. “I'm so upset Casey didn't win. She was robbed,” another added. “She should've won! Loved every single one of her performances. She's definitely going places,” a different fan said. “Casey will always be the American Idol that got away. She’s so goooood,” a follower commented.

Meanwhile, others declared that Casey proved how great of a singer she is even when sharing the stage with an award-winning artist like Luke. “She outperformed Luke totally. No performer improved more than Casey. Not even close,” a fan wrote. “Luke did his best. Cassey killed it - as usual,” someone else said.

Opinions aside, Casey ended the night celebrating Chayce’s win. The Florida native shared a fun pic on her Instagram Story with former AI contestant Hunter Metts showing the 2021 winner in the background with judges Luke, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest.

With season 19 officially over, we can't wait to see what Casey and Chayce do next.
