Cartier Releases Limited-Edition Crash Radieuse Watch

In 1967, a London client with a watch that had survived a car crash walked into Cartier, and an icon was born. As legend goes, Jean-Jacques Cartier was so inspired by the mangled time-piece that he designed another in its honor, with numerals that seem to slide across a melted dial. (Art aficionados may spy an allusion to Salvador Dalí’s famous surrealist clocks.) This year, Cartier released a new model of the so-called Crash watch: the limited-edition Crash Radieuse. $40,700; cartier.com
