Carson Daly has his pal Ryan Seacrest's back!

The American Idol host made waves when he was announced as Pat Sajak's successor on Wheel of Fortune, with many fans disappointed by the choice, but Daly isn't wavering in his support.

The Voice host spoke with People about the changeup, which he says "seems like an obvious choice.”

Looking back on older episodes of the show, Daly thinks a young Sajak and a young Seacrest bare a striking resemblance, which just bolsters his belief that it's the right move for the game show.

Daly also told the publication that he admires Seacrest's work ethic, joking that he's "trying so hard to stop working” in order to dedicate more time to his family.

“I love Ryan," he said. "We've been friends forever. It's amazing to me his desire to continue to work at such a high level. He'll be great at it and good luck to him.”

One of Seacrest's first jobs was hosting a game show called Click, 25 years ago, and Sajak, albeit jokingly, even predicted Seacrest taking his place over ten years ago, saying, "Seacrest is on speed dial," after making a mistake on air.

The decades-long host is confident in his replacement as well, previously stating, "I'm looking forward to my final season starting this fall, and then handing over the car keys to Ryan Seacrest in September of 2024."

Sajak will finish out his final season this fall, with Seacrest set to take the reigns early next year.
