Country star Carrie Underwood is about to make her first public appearance since a nasty fall outside her home required 40 stitches in her face. And like the megastar she is, she’s returning in a huge way: performing new music during the Academy of Country Music awards.

The ACM Awards revealed on Monday that Underwood would be performing her brand-new single for the first time during Sunday night’s awards show.

Underwood has been teasing new music on social media, announcing that something special would be announced Wednesday morning. She also posted photos of herself in a recording studio and rehearsing with a band. All signs point to her new single coming out this week.

This Wednesday, April 11. 6am ET.

Underwood warned fans that since her accident, she might look “a little different” because of the stitches in her face. But one fan spotted her back in January, and noted she looked like everything was back to normal. The only difference was a cast on her wrist, which required surgery after the accident.

Though Underwood has kept a low profile lately, not showing her full face, she hasn’t kept quiet. She unveiled a new single, “The Champion” featuring Ludacris, which had its own music video, and shared lots of images of herself spending time with her husband, Mike Fisher, and their son, Isaiah. And she’s even had time to send some sass to those who dare pit her against fellow American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson.

Clearly, Underwood is ready to make her return to the public eye-and fans will be eagerly awaiting her comeback.
