American Idol alum Carrie Underwood stepped out on the Grand Ole Opry's stage for a special celebration!

As one of country music's most fierce female singers, Carrie honored another who helped pave the way for women in the industry. Grammy Award-winning singer Barbara Mandrell retired over two decades ago, with her last show being on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 1997. Fast-forward to 2022 and the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee made a special return to the stage to celebrate her 50th anniversary as a member of the Nashville institution.

What better way to celebrate one legend than with another legend, right? Carrie joined Barbara at her celebration and had this to say on Instagram: "Last night, I had the honor of celebrating @barbaramandrellmusic's 50th anniversary of being an @opry member. What a joy it was to sing her songs and to feel the love that her amazing fans and the other artists showered her with!"

She continued with, "Thank you, Barbara, for being you and for continuing to show us all how it’s done! Love you!"

The "Ghost Singer" joined other female performers like CeCe Winans, Linda Davis, and more. Carrie donned a striking one-shoulder floor-length, golden gown with sparkles that looked stunning on her. Honestly, who's surprised?! The country queen rocks everything she wears, whether it's short shorts with chains or a dramatic low-cut gown during her own Opry performance.

Fans in the comments of Carrie's Instagram post were all in agreement about two things: Carrie looks gorgeous, and Barbara Mandrell should make a return to music. We don't know when or if the second will happen, but here's hoping.
