Carrie Underwood, Hannah Davis & More Sparkle on the 2015 CMA Awards Red Carpet
- 1/33
Carrie Underwood in a plunging coral peplum gown.
Underwood, who’s returning to co-host this year with Brad Paisley, wore a plunging coral gown with a peplum by Indian- based designers Gauri & Nainika—which further accented her tiny waist. She finished off the look with drop earrings and some statement bling on her upper ear—a big trend in jewelry right now.
- 2/33
Jewel in a sparkling mini dress with illusion neckline.
Jewel looked like a skater girl—an ice skater girl, that is!—in a super short, super sparkly mini dress and matching clutch. An illusion neckline kept everything in place up top. If you’ve got it, flaunt it…
- 3/33
Steven Tyler in a printed blazer, silk shirt, and leather pants.
Aerosmith rock god Steven Tyler showed up, looking his usual mix of ultra fancy yet disheveled. Beneath his printed dinner jacket, he wore a silky-looking champagne shirt and flared leather pants. He accessorized with piles of rings, necklaces, and bracelets, plus some rainbow colored hair.
- 4/33
Trisha Yearwood (with Garth Brooks) in a silver and champagne gown.
Country couple Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks dressed black tie for the evening, with Yearwood looking elegant in a champagne-colored gown with silver foil detailing and dark eye makeup. Brooks looked sharp in a classic black tux and his trusty 10-gallon hat. This is the CMAs, after all!
- 5/33
Erika Christensen in a blue, one shouldered gown with ruffles by Gauri & Nainika.
The actress wore a draped, one shouldered gown in cobalt blue by Gauri & Nainika, paired with a high topknot hairstyle and a black box clutch. Ruffles were huge on the runway this season, and will be everywhere come spring. Christensen is one step ahead!
- 6/33
Kellie Pickler in a strapless, navy blue ballgown.
Pickler went for a moody princess look, wearing a strapless navy gown with plunging neckline and full ball skirt. The country singer will soon star in her own CMT reality show, aptly titled I Love Kellie Pickler, alongside her husband Kyle Jacobs.
- 7/33
Shawn Booth and Kaitlyn Bristowe in a blue suit and color block and printed maxi dress.
The most recent couple to result from The Bachelorette wore mismatched looks on the CMAs red carpet. Booth sported a bright blue suit with a black shirt, while his fiancee Kaitlyn had on a rather casual maxi dress with a black top and printed skirt. These two don’t seem to have yet mastered the fine art of couple’s dressing!
- 8/33
Megan Rapinoe in a black velvet blazer, bowtie, and slacks.
This professional soccer player knows how to rock a suit. Rapinoe looked extra sharp in a velvet blazer (VERY fall 2015!) with a white shirt underneath and a cute bowtie tied at the collar. It was a playful addition to an outfit that could have otherwise been a bit dull.
- 9/33
Jennifer Nettles in a dusty pink gown with beading and illusion panels.
The Sugarland singer stood out from the rest in a perfectly tailored, dusty pink gown. The top is covered in beaded embroidery, which shimmered when the light hit it. Though the dress’s neckline appears to be fairly scandalous, everything was held in place with the help of an illusion panel extending from the waist up.
- 10/33
Danielle Bradbery in a black gown with sheer leg panel.
Bradbery, who won singing competition The Voice in 2013, wore a fitted black gown with a sheer panel running from her thighs to her ankles. Her long hair was worn half back. She looks terrific, but this is a dress style we’ve seen a few too many times on the red carpet.
- 11/33
Hillary Scott in a black floral cocktail dress.
The Lady Antebellum lead singer opted for a shorter dress, choosing a cocktail-length frock covered in red roses, worn with red lips and single sole pumps. She was one of the few women who wore a print at the CMAs, and she looked fantastic.
- 12/33
RaeLynn in an orange high-low drop-waist dress.
The “God Made Girls” singer chose to wear a high-low dress on the red carpet, showing off her minimalist black heeled sandals. The bold color looks beautiful with her complexion, but we wish the top of the dress had been tailored a bit more.
- 13/33
Aubrey Peeples in a sparkling black gown with cutouts and leg slit.
Peeples went for a pared back look at the CMAs—and it paid off! This black, glittery gown fits her body to a T. It’s glamorous without being gaudy, and her dark, sultry eye makeup is the perfect accent.
- 14/33
Kayla Adams in a champagne bandage gown.
The singer shined in a body-con champagne-colored gown. Paired with her ultra blonde curls, Adams gave off major ice princess vibes on the red carpet.
- 15/33
Cassadee Pope in a lace illusion gown.
The singer/songwriter went the “naked dress” route, choosing a dress made mostly of lace and illusion mesh. Again, this is a look we’ve seen too many times—most famously on Beyonce and Rihanna—but Pope does look incredible, and her hair is the perfect mix of effortless and “done.”
- 16/33
Erica Nicole in a black lace gown with trumpet hem.
The country newcomer, who’s spoken openly about her struggles with hearing loss, wore a trumpet-hemmed black lace dress with long sleeves and white lining. The dress hugs her figure perfectly, but we can’t help but feel like it would’ve looked a lot better had it had either black or nude lining, rather than white.
- 17/33
Hayley Orrantia in a purple gown with floral pattern.
The actress and singer looked youthful in a shiny purple gown with an abstract floral pattern imprinted in the fabric, and a classic silhouette that defies trends. While so many of her fellow red carpeters wore almost spring-like getups, we love that Orrantia nixed the nudes and chose a more seasonally appropriate jewel tone.
- 18/33
Shawna Thompson in a slinky silver gown.
Thompson, who’s one-half of husband-wife duo Thompson Square, showed off her changing figure in a fitted silver gown that was covered in sparkles—a huge trend on this year’s CMAs red carpet. She and husband Keifer Thompson are expecting their first child in January.
- 19/33
Cam in an illusion gown with silver and gold detailing.
The singer-songwriter was in no mood for subtlety Wednesday night, wearing a fitted illusion with silver glitter and a gold leaf-like pattern trailing from the bust to the floor. Is it just us, or is the dress itself reminiscent of Cam’s trademark blonde ringlets?
- 20/33
Jana Kramer in a plunging, navy blue mermaid gown.
The actress and country singer, who’s expecting a daughter with her baseball player husband, Michael Caussin, accented her tummy in this slinky blue mermaid-style gown with plunging neckline. We love that she went with a navy dress instead of black—it adds something unexpected and glamorous to the look.
- 21/33
Holly Williams in a black dress with sheer panels.
The country singer (and granddaughter of the legendary Hank Williams) wore a black dress with sheer horizontal panels across the chest and legs. It’s a safe choice for Williams, who’s pregnant with her second child—but it’s hard to go wrong with a classic black dress.
- 22/33
Kacey Musgraves in a deep turquoise gown with plunging neckline.
The country star rocked an old Hollywood look, choosing a halter gown in deep turquoise. iThe giant sparklers on her fingers, red lips, and Veronica Lake-like hair added perfectly to her already-sultry getup. This is one style that will never go out of fashion.
- 23/33
Miranda Lambert in an architectural black gown with sheer panels.
Lambert chose an edgy look for the red carpet, wearing a fitted black dress with sheer panels and asymmetrical detailing. Her hair was was worn in a blunt lob (that’s a ‘long bob’), with hot pink streaks throughout. Paired with mostly neutral makeup and dark, short nails, she looked extremely cool.
- 24/33
Justin Timberlake in a black jacket, white dress shirt, dark jeans, and suede boots.
Timberlake, who was at the CMAs to perform with Chris Stapleton, wore a casual, country-inspired outfit: a black jacket and white shirt (no tie), plus some worn-looking jeans and a pair of tan suede boots. When in Rome!
- 25/33
Lee Ann Womack in a glittering nude mini dress with sheer sleeves.
Womack went for a retro look, pairing a ‘60s-esque mini dress with hoop earrings and feathered Farrah Fawcett hair. She topped things off with sparkly hoop earrings and sky-high platform heels. Although everything old is new again in fashion, something about this felt a bit dated.
- 26/33
Kimberly Roads Schlapman in a structured red and black gown with ruffle detailing.
The Little Big Town singer went bold at the CMAs, wearing a bright red gown that almost looked like an extension of the carpet itself! The ruffle details at the shoulders, which were lined in black, made the look even more dramatic. She accessorized with a sparkly silver clutch.
- 27/33
Kimberly Perry in a one-sleeved black dress with grommet detailing and a thigh cutout.
The singer for The Band Perry cut a sleek figure in a black, one-sleeved dress with grommet detailing down the side. And forget about a thigh slit—this dress has an entire thigh cutout, through which Perry showed off her crazy-high, nude Louboutin platforms. This could be the sexiest look of the night!
- 28/33
Rachel Holder in a blue strapless gown with mermaid hem.
The country singer stood out from the rest Wednesday night, wearing a strapless, royal blue gown with a trumpet hem that led to a slight train. It’s simple, yet striking—and it fits her bod beautifully.
- 29/33
Hannah Davis in a blush gown by J. Mendel with black details and a thigh high slit.
The swimsuit model—who’s newly engaged to her former Yankee beau, Derek Jeter, looked glam in a blush pink gown with a cutout bodice, bandeau detailing, and hand-pleated silk chiffon skirt with ruffles by J. Mendel. The blunging neckline and ultra-high slit showed off her supermodel curves, and her loose waves looked shiny and effortless.
- 30/33
Maisy Stella and Lennon Stella in coordinating black and glitter mini dresses.
The Canadian sisters, who perform together and act on Nashville, looked cute in black mini dresses with sparkly silver details. Maisy, who wore booties and fishnets, had a glittery panel down the center of her frock—while Lennon’s had a sparkling collar and cutout at the chest.
- 31/33
Dierks Bentley in a slim black suit with a blue and black checked shirt.
The CMA Awards performer looked handsome in a tailored black suit with a matching tie and dark blue and black checked shirt. He finished it off with black dress shoes for a classic and timeless menswear look.
- 32/33
Kimberly Williams-Paisley in a heavily embellished strapless mini dress.
The actress and wife of country star Brad Paisley marched to her own beat on the red carpet, choosing a strapless mini dress embellished with jewels and bits of blue. Her silver, laser cut booties were statement making on their own—and paired with the frock, the look was over-the-top in a fun, fresh way.
- 33/33
Betty Cantrell in a nude and white illusion gown and crown.
The Miss America winner from Georgia went for a trusty nude illusion dress, though hers was one of the least risqué of the night. Of course, no one could beat her choice of accessory—that gorgeous, glittering crown, which she wore atop a side-swept ‘do.
