From winning American Idol to scoring multiple Grammys, Carrie Underwood knows her husband, sons and entire family have always had her back.

The country superstar was born in March 1983 to parents Carole and Stephen Underwood and grew up in Oklahoma with older sisters Shanna and Stephanie. Three years after she became the champion of American Idol season 4, she met her husband Mike Fisher and got engaged in December 2009.

Carrie and the former NHL player tied the knot in July 2010 and became parents to their eldest son, Isaiah, in March 2015. After suffering three miscarriages within the span of two years, the pair’s family grew with the birth of son Jacob in January 2019.

In a December 2020 interview with Zane Lowe, Carrie opened up about her “very lucky” job as a mother of two. At the time, the “Before He Cheats” singer revealed that quarantining at home with her family of four amid the COVID-19 pandemic had brought them closer together than ever.

“I kind of got to maybe get back to some of my roots boy not being on stage for a minute,” Carrie shared. “I got to be outside so much and I got to work in the garden and just be a mom and be a wife and be at home. It’s the most I’ve been still in over 15 years.”

She shares just as close of a bond with her parents and sisters. In July 2023, Carrie, her siblings and their mom got matching heart tattoos together during a visit to Las Vegas — where Carrie has her Reflection residency.

Mike Fisher

Carrie and Fisher said “I do” two years after they first met in late 2008. Upon celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the two were “in an amazing place.”

The insider noted that quarantining together throughout the COVID-19 pandemic only strengthened their bond, sharing, “Their time with family has been amazing for them, and Carrie and Mike are growing closer together throughout quarantine and learning more and more about each other.”

Fans got an inside look into their home lives with Isaiah and Jacob in their 2020 docuseries Mike and Carrie: God and Country, which included discussions on how the duo overcomes arguments. “We learn from each other and have spirited discussions about things that we disagree on, but at the end of the day, we love each other very much,” Carrie explained during an episode of the show.

A second source told Us in April 2023 that Carrie felt “so blessed” to have celebrated her 40th birthday with Fisher and was wholeheartedly “embracing this new chapter” in her life. “Everybody has their good and bad days, but they’re stronger than ever,” the insider added. “Carrie doesn’t know what she’d do without the support from her husband.”

Isaiah Fisher (Carrie's Son)

The “Blown Away singer” welcomed her and Fisher’s first child in February 2015. “Tiny hands and tiny feet … God has blessed us with an amazing gift!” Carrie captioned an Instagram pic of her then-newborn’s hands via Instagram. “Isaiah Michael Fisher - born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel!”

Over the years, Isaiah has gone on to follow in his mother’s musical footsteps as he appeared on Carrie’s 2020 Christmas album, “My Gift,” on the the track “Little Drummer Boy.”

“He loves to sing, and he has such a giving, loving heart about him,” Carrie told Entertainment Tonight in October 2020, noting that her eldest son gave his performance “his all.”

She continued: “It’s so pure, and it’s so special. He’s throwing his hands in the air and [was] just so expressive when he was singing it. I was so proud of him, just for giving it his all and the love in his heart because he does love Jesus. At 5 years old, he knows, and he was giving all the love. I’m very proud of him.”

For her 40th birthday in March 2023, Carrie shared the sweet cards her sons made for her special day. “4 Things Isaiah loves about me,” the “Cowboy Casanova” songstress captioned an Instagram Story snap at the time. “I love her snuggles, I love her kisses, I love her singing and most of all I love her love!”

Jacob Fisher

Carrie gave birth to her and Fisher’s second child in January 2019. “Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday ... his mom, dad and big brother couldn’t be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle!” she captioned Instagram photos of herself, Fisher and Isaiah holding the newborn. “Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good."

Jacob’s birth came one year after Carrie revealed she had suffered multiple miscarriages over the course of two years. “I got mad … I was like, ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid,’” she told CBS Sunday Morning in September 2018. “And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt.”

Days after the “All-American Girl” singer gave birth to her second child, Fisher called their baby boy a “gift from our Lord” in a sweet Instagram post. “The last few years has had its challenges and it makes this moment even more sweet! We didn’t know if Izzy would ever have another sibling but we learned through it all that God is in control and his timing is perfect! He is good all the time even in the difficult times that are hard to understand.”

Much like his big brother, Jacob listed his favorite things about his famous mother for her 40th birthday in March 2023. “1. When she kisses me. 2. How much she loves me. 3. She’s beautiful. 4. Her snuggles. 5. When she dresses up. I like her dress,” the then-4-year-old wrote in his card to Carrie.

Carole and Stephen Underwood (Carrie's Parents)

Though Carrie’s parents, Carole and Stephen, have remained relatively out of the spotlight over the years, Carole, however, opened up about her daughter’s rise to fame in a rare interview with Today in March 2021. "It didn't really dawn on me at that particular moment what was possibly going to happen," she said of Carrie’s 2005 American Idol win. "Up to this time, it was just a competition. She won, and then my next thought (was), 'Well, where do we go from here?'"

She went on to note that her people “don’t realize that celebrities truly are just people,” adding, “They wash their clothes. They fold their clothes. You know? I just don’t want her to change how she is, and I think she [didn’].”

Carole and Stephen celebrated 50 years of marriage in April 2018. “Today, we celebrated my parents’ 50th anniversary ... We listened to stories of how they met and their first years together...the good Lord sure did bless them … and us! ❤️❤️❤️,” Carrie captioned an Instagram post featuring pics of her parents’ anniversary celebration. “I think these crazy kids are gonna make it!”

Shanna Underwood Means and Stephanie U. Shelton (Carrie's Sisters)

Carrie grew up in Oklahoma as the youngest of three sisters. Unlike their little sister, Shanna and Stephanie have kept their lives out of the public eye. The women, however, made a rare appearance on Carrie’s Instagram in July 2023, as the three of them got matching tattoos with their mother in Las Vegas.

“When your 74-year-old mother asks you and your sisters to get matching tattoos with her in Vegas, the only questions are, ‘what?’ and ‘where?” Carrie captioned pics of the group’s matching heart-shaped ink via Instagram. “I never would’ve thought I’d see the day that Mama Carole would be gettin’ some ink! 😂❤️ #WhatHappensInVegas.”
