Carrie Underwood's First Post-Stitches Music Video
Last night, Carrie Underwood debuted the first music video she's filmed since an accident in November forced her to get 40 stitches in her face.
The video, for Carrie's new single "Cry Pretty," shows the singer crying in the shower before she returns to the stage to triumph over her fears and the pressures of fame. There are plenty of closeups of her face in the video, and she looks absolutely amazing.
“I apologize if you don’t like what you see," the lyrics read. “But sometimes my emotions get the best of me, And falling apart is as human as it gets, You can’t hide it, you can’t fight what the truth is.”
Carrie chose to debut the video during American Idol, which she was a contestant on in 2005 during the fourth season.
She released this song on April 11, nearly a month ago, and then sang it in an emotional performance during the ACM Awards four days later.
Although it's hard to tell in the music video, the singer has a scar that runs from her lips to her nose. In November, she was walking her dogs when she tripped and fell, and that's why she had to get the stitches.
"I was taking the dogs out to go pee one last time, and I just, I tripped," she said. "There was one step, and I didn’t let go of the leashes! Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step."
She also broke her wrist and chipped a tooth in the process. "If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been perfectly fine," she said. "But it was one step that messed everything up."
