Carrie Lives! Sarah Jessica Parker Embraces Her Fictional Alter Ego
Sarah Jessica Parker will forever be associated with Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and The City. While Parker may not regularly wear the kind of extreme outfits that her fashion-obsessed character made famous on the hit HBO show, the actress sometimes adds dash of Carrie into her everyday wardrobe. For one thing, she loves (and sells under her own label) the same kind of sparkly pumps that her fictional alter ego wore while traipsing around Manhattan. Yet this week Parker shared a new look on Instagram that screams Bradshaw from head to toe.
Parker’s eccentric outfit mixed bold prints that clashed artfully—no small feat. Yet she made her look sound like something she just threw together. “Sunglasses, check. Borrowed coat, bag and dress, check,” she wrote, showing off her embellished gingham coat by Off-White and a floral Rebecca Taylor dress. “Old socks, check.” Although the old hosiery in question was a pair of below-the-knee Gucci socks in pink and red. (Designer statement socks are in this fall.) For that extra Carrie touch, she then accessorized with metallic Mary Jane pumps that had a large crystal buckle—by SJP Collection, naturally—and a chic leather bag by The Row.
Carrie Bradshaw remains a perennial reference for designers, so it makes perfect sense that the the woman who brought her to life would also be continually inspired by this legendary character.
