A lot of older homes or basements are made of walls out of brick or stone. Masonry used to be the preferred building method starting in the 19th century, from the early 1800’s leading late into the 1900’s. This material is extremely sturdy and stout which is why many of these homes from the era are still perfectly standing and usable today in major cities across the country. The issue many homeowners have with them now is trying to figure out how to repair, build off of, or make use of this rock-solid material. Popular woodworking page @woodworkingskills.io shared a brilliant hack that makes drilling into and securing cords to brick or stone so simple. Check it out!

If your walls are made of brick or stone, it can be frustrating to figure out ways to secure things to them, like picture frames, artwork, lighting, and more. But dangling cords that would normally be fastened to the walls if they were wood, are perhaps the most obnoxious.

This trick the woodworking page shared makes it so simple though. To do so the man first drills into the stone wall with a heavy duty drill bit. He then uses zip ties and pushes them into the holes with the tip and the locking tab sticking out. Once in solace he screwed a screw into the hole, holding the zip ties in place. They now can be used to secure and hold cords in place running along the wall. Keeping things neat and tidy!
