Carli Bybel and Anastasia Beverly Hills and Made an Eye Shadow Palette Together, and We've Got All the Details

If you want to learn how to do a smoky eye in a pinch, there are hundreds upon hundreds of influencers across YouTube you can turn to. However, few are quite as established as Carli Bybel. The beauty, fashion, and fitness vlogger has been on the platform since 2011, and she's turned her channel into a space for workouts, lifestyle vlogs and "mukbangs," and, most importantly, makeup tutorials — all watched intently by her six million subscribers. By just one look at her big, sultry blue eyes, it's clear as day that Bybel knows her way around an eye shadow palette, which is why it's only fitting that she's created one in collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills.

ABH and Bybel are launching a 12-shade eye shadow palette on Monday, October 7, and it's kind of a big friggin' deal. After all, Anastasia's palettes are beloved far and wide, and its roster of previous collaborators include big-hitter names like Jackie Aina, Mario Dedivanovic, and drag queen Alyssa Edwards.

Anastasia is a long-time favorite brand of Bybel's, plus she'd already developed a friendship with the brand's primary figures, Anastasia and Claudia Soare, so asking them if they'd be interested in collaborating with her seemed like a no-brainer — and she wasn't alone in that thought. "When I had reached out to them, Claudia said that they were actually planning on reaching out to me, that they really wanted to do something with me, which was awesome," Bybel tells Allure.

From there on, it took just over a year to nail down the palette's packaging, color scheme, and formula, all of which Bybel wanted to be to very hands-on with. "It was a long process, but with something like this and with a brand this huge, I really wanted it to be perfect," she says. "And I wanted people to look at it and think, 'I have nothing that looks like this.'" That's exactly what the duo has created, and Bybel says she's thrilled that she can finally reveal it to the world.

The palette itself beckons images of fairytale landscapes with an array of matte, metallic, shimmer, and duo-chrome finishes in neutral, pink, and purple hues, all wrapped up in shiny, embossed packaging that's drastically different from the brand's signature velvet casing. "I really wanted to choose colors that I would use every single day," Bybel says of the eye shadow selection. "A lot of the shades are neutrals that you can use day to night, and I wanted to add in a couple of new shades that I really had never seen in a palette before," Bybel says. She's specifically referring to shades Libre, Jode, and OA, three muted, metallic purple hues that "are going to be really great for fall."

Bybel also loves using eye shadow palettes as multi-purpose products, which she had in mind when creating certain shades. "I highlight my nose with [Moo and Boli] every time I'm doing my makeup with the palette," she says. "The Cindy shade can be used a blush as well... the color Boie, I use sometimes for my eyebrows." Keeping in mind that eye shadows have more color payoff than blushes and highlighters, Bybel recommends dipping into those multi-use shades with smaller, tapered brushes and using a very light hand when applying them as complexion products.

Together, Bybel and Anastasia have pulled off the ideal everyday palette for general makeup wearers and for Bybel's dedicated fans alike — but her fans will reap even more benefit out of the palette's shade names, all of which have extremely personal meaning to her.

For example, Boli, Boie, Bear, Chai, and Cindy are all named after Bybel's cats, who make frequent cameos in her YouTube videos and Instagram posts. Jode and Stev, two of the most unique shades of the palette, are named for the playful nicknames she calls her mom and dad respectively. Her subscribers even get their own shout-out with the bronzey metallic gold shade at the bottom-right corner of the palette: My Angels.

The Carli Bybel Palette, $42, is available October 7 at anastasiabeverlyhills.com and in stores October 10.
