Cardi B’s Role in ‘Hustlers’ Might Be Basically Nonexistent, FYI

• The upcoming Hustlers movie features Cardi B’s first-ever film performance, which the internet is entirely pumped for.

• If you’re hoping for two full hours of Cardi B, though, you might be out of luck, because it looks like her role will be super small.

Cardi B is about to make her film debut in Hustlers, a movie about a group of New York City strippers who scam their male clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. And while you might be pumped to see her on the big screen, you should know her role might not actually be that big. Sorry!

As you can imagine, being one of the most in-demand rappers in the world makes you seriously busy. Her Hustlers costar Madeline Brewer told Cosmopolitan in a recent interview that Cardi only got to do one day of shooting on the movie. That probably means she’s in one or two scenes, total.

That’s a major bummer. But hey, the woman is BUSY. She’s winning Grammys, releasing music, being a badass, slaying the mom thing, etc. At least there’s this incredible video of her wearing nipple tassels in the film to help ease the pain.

The writer and director of the movie, Lorene Scafaria, spoke to Vulture and said it actually took her two years to get Cardi to agree to do the movie.

“I chased Cardi for two years,” she said. Basically, she didn’t know how to get in contact with the rapper, so she sent her a random DM. She says the response came from someone associated with Cardi’s account, not Cardi herself, and the message just had a phone number. So she texted the number. “I got back a, ‘We know, we’ll get back to you,’” she said.

“I didn’t know if I was talking to her or somebody else.” She still has no clue who the person was. “I have two phone numbers in my cell: Cardi 1 and Cardi 2. I’m not sure if either of them are actually Cardi.”
