Cardi B. Wears Milani Makeup Foundation on the Red Carpet

Run, don't walk.

Cardi B always looks #flawless, but just because she raps about being expensive doesn't mean her makeup routine has to be. It's no surprise that she manages to always look on point with a makeup routine that is surprisingly affordable. Thankfully, with the help of her makeup artist Erika La'Pearl, Cardi managed to find a holy grail drugstore foundation to match her skin tone — which is not always the easiest feat for women with darker skin.

Erika told Refinery29, "I mix Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-In-1 Foundation + Concealer in 06 Sand Beige and 09 Tan. I also use BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer for her under eyes and spots." She added that "Cardi's skin tone is really in-between, like a yellow with a pink undertone. Those colors match her perfectly"

Erika's discovery actually happened by accident — and was a serious score, considering the go-to foundation she uses retails for only $7.87 on Amazon."I found out about Milani when I had to run to the drugstore, because I didn't have time to go to Sephora to get Nars. It stays in place, though, on the red carpet, at the Grammys, and on stage." While most of us won't need it to hold up through a performance in front of millions of fans, it's nice to know that it won't disappear from our faces by 11am.

The glam process doesn't end there, of course. "To contour, I'll take the Nutmeg and Copper Brown shades from Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Medium/Tan to sculpt," Erika told Refinery29. "But before that, I like using Black Opal True Color Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation in Beautiful Bronze on her face and nose. She likes her nose to be really contoured. So I do that, and then blend it out with the compact powders."

To keep Cardi's skin looking flawless, Erika locks everything in by baking, a popular makeup technique where translucent powder is liberally applied, sits on skin for five to ten minutes, then dusted off. "You need something on the face to prevent it from glistening. Right now, I use Patrick Starr's setting powder from MAC to go on top, because it has such a neutral tone."

Some of Cardi's other favorite drugstore finds? Neutrogena's Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, which she uses prep her skin, Rimmel's black eye-shadow, which Erika uses to create the perfect cat-eye, and NYX's slim lip pencil in Nutmeg for the final touches.
