Cardi B Wanted Lizzo to Appear in the ‘WAP’ Music Video

We coulda had a bad bitch in this house! According to a new interview, Cardi B really wanted Lizzo to appear in the “WAP” music video. In fact, she had a “whole vision” for the cameo. How much do you wanna bet there was a flute and a split involved?

“I’m cool with Lizzo and everything. Like, we’ve been sending DMs to each other and all that,” the rapper said on Hot 97, per NME. “But she was on vacation and she wasn’t in town. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ because I had a whole vision about how I want to see Lizzo and everything.”

To be fair, it’s not like there wasn’t enough star power in the Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion headlined video. The rappers featured a ton of famous faces and talent, including Normani, Kylie Jenner, Rosalìa, Rubi Rose, Sukihana, and Mulatto.

“It was so important to me to include different women that are different races and come from different backgrounds, but are so powerful and influential,” Cardi B added.

At the end of August, Cardi B shared a message to anyone who believes the anthem about female empowerment and sexual autonomy is “too vulgar.”

“The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people, but my thing is I grew up listening to this type of music,” she said on the Australian radio show The Kyle and Jackie O Show. “Other people might think it’s strange and vulgar, but to me it’s almost like really normal, you know what I’m saying?”

She continued, “You wanna know something? It’s what people wanna hear. If people didn’t wanna hear it, if they were so afraid to hear it, it wouldn’t be doing as good.”

Earlier this year, she further defined the message of her music for Elle. “My music is always going to make a woman feel like a bad bitch,” Cardi B told the magazine. “When you make a woman feel like she’s the baddest bitch in the room, to me, that’s female empowerment.”

I can’t help but think that Lizzo would agree.
