Cardi B Is "Sharing" Her 2019 Grammy With Mac Miller

"Rest in peace."

Cardi B capped off an already incredible year with a groundbreaking win at the 2019 Grammy awards. The rapper, who received the award for Best Rap Album, for Invasion of Privacy, had a lot of people to thank. She expressed her appreciation for everyone who helped her complete the album and supported her, and gave a special tribute to Mac Miller.

The always outspoken musician made history when she won, Variety reports, becoming the first female solo artist to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Backstage, Cardi, who was nominated alongside Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T, Travis Scott, and Mac Miller, took a moment to reflect on the win, sharing a video to Instagram.

In the video clip, Cardi rattles off a list of people to thank, and after giving a shout-out to "God, my dad's side of the family and my mom's side of the family," she announced that she was sharing the win with Mac. "I read an article that Mac Miller’s family said that if he don’t win, they want me to win, so I’m sharing this Grammy with you," she said. "Rest in peace."

Cardi's heartfelt video earned approval on social media, with fans thanking her for making a "very sweet tribute." One Twitter follower commended the artist for remembering Mac, writing, "Cardi B just posted this on IG, giving a shout out to Mac Miller, saying she shares this win with him. That’s how you do it."

As previously reported, Mac died in September at age 26. After his passing, many celebrities and those in the rap community paid tribute to the performer. The 2019 Grammys marked the first time that Mac had been nominated for the award, for Swimming.
