Each year, the annual Met Gala attendees list is updated to include the who’s who of fashion, music, and pop culture. But talks of the most anticipated guests usually revolve around the typical big names, and notably present on that list (aside from Rihanna, Zendaya, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé) is Cardi B. You may recall her iconic Met Gala debut in a stunning embroidered Moschino gown with designer Jeremy Scott by her side in 2018. She upped the drama a year later in an oxblood feathered Thom Browne gown that required all hands on deck to get her across the carpet. Ever the spotlight stealer, the 2022 Met Gala theme wasn’t lost on the rapper, who arrived as part of Donatella Versace’s crew in a blinding gold ensemble that rightfully earned its own solo moment.

When the Met Gala’s “gilded glamour” dress code was revealed, a few images immediately comes to mind—mainly, corsets, exaggerated gowns with décolleté necklines, and bouffant updos. In Cardi B’s world, gilded glamour looks a lot like dripping in gold chains from head to toe. With the help of Donatella Versace, Cardi wore a body-skimming bodice dress that hugged every curve of her body, in the best way.

The front of the dress featured gold choker detailing with Versace’s signature medusa pendant and a cut-out sweetheart neckline. Gold beading and chains scaled the torso, and Cardi accessorized with gloves made of—you guessed it—more chains. Turning around to give viewers a better look, the cut-out detailing translated to the back of the gown and stopped right at the waist.

Cardi’s no stranger to the Versace family. Earlier this year, the rapper joined the Versace La Medusa Mini social campaign, which was centered on sisterhood.

Posing alongside her sister, Hennessy Carolina, Cardi donned Versace printed pants while her sister wore a mini skirt in a similar print, both holding up their respective La Medusa Mini bags. The campaign also featured Dua Lipa and her sister, Rina, as well as Gigi and Bella Hadid.
