If we could choose one person who had an amazing year in 2017, it would hands-down be Cardi B. The incredibly popular Bronx-bred rapper made a splash this year with her hit song “Bodak Yellowand has toured the world. She’s also had amazing collaborations with everyone from Elle to her latest and greatest: legendary shoe designer Steve Madden.

On Wednesday, the 25-year-old hip-hop artist and reality star announced on Instagram her collaboration with Madden, through a video of one of her “Daily Tips” in which she explains why every women should have a pointy shoe. “All right, if I button this shirt, I could go to a business meeting, but I can wear this to the club,” she says in the video while rocking a blue-and-white striped blouse, denim jeans, and a pair of hot pink pointy pumps.

Since the posting, many people have shared how excited and proud they are of her. One inspired fan wrote, “I need to get to this level of slayage,” while another chimed in, “You add so much energy to everything you do! Your presence is always felt.”

“Cardi B is our girl,” Madden shared in a brand statement. “She’s an inspiration to many. She’s the definition of Self Made.”

Prior to news of the collaboration, Madden had expressed to Yahoo Lifestyle his admiration for Cardi and how she actually is the one who got him more into social media. “I have to say, Cardi B, she’s blown my mind with her Instagrams,” he said. “She does these riffs … on like a purple blanket … I don’t know if it’s her or a character she develops, it’s just so much fun to watch. It’s gotten me more into Instagram.”

One would think that high-end designer Christian Louboutin would be the first to be knocking down Cardi’s door, especially since she has the famous lyric, “These is red bottoms, these is bloody shoes,” in her song “Bodak Yellow” — a clear reference to his famous red-soled shoes. But in an interview with the New York Times, Louboutin suggested that he wasn’t that familiar with her. Still, a Teen Vogue article noted recently, “None of that seems to faze Cardi.” Because as she noted, “It’s just something you’ve got to prove to people, just like music. A lot of music people didn’t want to work with me at first, and you’ve just got to prove yourself.”

Opinions aside, it’s clear that Cardi B has proved herself in a major way in 2017. We caught up with Gil Eyal, CEO of HYPR Brands, and he really broke down the power of influence she holds. “Cardi has 14 million Instagram followers — two out of three are female, 25 percent are African-American, and 38 percent are Caucasian. Half her audience is under the age of 25, and 86 percent are under 32, and 81 percent are in the United States,” he says. “Cardi’s ascent started in June 2017. That means she’s hot right now, but it’s hard to say whether she’ll stay hot for long. Her first post from [Tuesday] night hit a similar audience and got about 700,000 likes. We can assume it was seen by millions of people, based on the publicity that was generated around it. If anything, it brought the new brand some very well needed attention. Whether or not that will convert to sales — only time will tell.”

Cardi B seems to be pretty hyped about her latest gig, and we can almost bet it’s going to be a hit that leads to more team-ups. “I’m so excited to be collaborating with one of my all-time favorite shoe designers,” she excitedly shared in an official press release from Steve Madden. “As a little girl, I would die for a pair of Steve Madden shoes, now I’m working with him! It’s really a dream come true.”
