Cardi B Hit Back at Someone Who Said We Need Less of Her and More Women Like Melania Trump

Cardi B is something of a political junkie—and if you didn't know that, you really haven't been paying attention. So it's not surprising the rapper had her eye on last night's (August 25) Republican National Convention, during which first lady Melania Trump spoke about her husband and why he should be reelected president.

While Cardi didn't comment directly on the speech, she definitely didn't hold back when DeAnna Lorraine—a former Republican congressional candidate—tweeted, “America needs far more women like Melania Trump and far less like Cardi B."

Cardi's response included a reference to her new hit song. “Didn’t she used to sell that Wap?” the rapper wrote.

She then shared an old nude photo of Trump, writing, “This pic giving me ‘yea you fuckin wit some wet ass pussy’ vibes ...just sayin.” (Hopefully, Cardi B didn't intend for her comments about Trump to be slut-shamey in any way.)

Lorraine, of course, hit back at Cardi B with this problematic tweet:

"Cardi B:

-drugged & robbed men during her time as a ‘stripper’.

-raps songs about her genitalia, corrupting our youth.

-her husband cheated on her and she told the youth of America that it’s okay to stay with a cheating man.

...and Joe Biden & Kamala Harris campaign with her!"

Cardi B hasn't responded to this most recent tweet—but she does have some thoughts for those who find “WAP” too vulgar, as Lorraine apparently does. "The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people, but my thing is I grew up listening to this type of music," she said on an Australian radio show. "Other people might think it's strange and vulgar, but to me it's almost like really normal, you know what I'm saying?"

“You wanna know something? It's what people wanna hear," she continued. "If people didn't wanna hear it, if they were so afraid to hear it, it wouldn't be doing as good.”
