Cardi B Had a Major Lil’ Kim Moment at Jeremy Scott

Cardi B channels mid-’90s era Lil’ Kim front row at Jeremy Scott’s The Fifth Element–inspired show.

Last New York Fashion Week, Cardi B was undoubtedly the front row queen. Fresh off a chart-topping summer, which found the Bronx-born rapper’s hit single “Bodak Yellow” blasting out of car stereos and club speakers alike, Cardi made quite an impression at shows like Helmut Lang, Fenty x Puma, and Christian Siriano. And sitting front row at Jeremy Scott last night, Cardi B returned to claim her NYFW crown in a look that paid homage to the original New York Queen Bee herself, Lil’ Kim.

Wearing a Moschino Fall 2018 black fur coat with white newspaper print plastered all over from Scott’s recent menswear collection, Cardi updated Lil’ Kim’s 1996 pairing of a fur-lined coat as a dress and tall boots. Cardi’s version of course added Jeremy Scott’s over-the-top flair and swapped out Kim’s black boots for a trendier glossy white. She finished off the look with a pair of ’50s-silhouette sunglasses, which were fitting given her old-school bouffant. Scott may have had the outlandish, futuristic style of The Fifth Element on his mind with his new collection, but Cardi paid tribute to her very own ’90s style icon with her standout front row look.
