Fashion’s obsession with all things western is showing no signs of slowing down. The influx of 10-gallon hats and buckaroo boots isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that the movement has infiltrated celebrity wardrobes. Yesterday in West Hollywood, Cardi B threw her hat into the ring, so to speak, with a subtler take on the trend. In Burberry’s Spring 2019 cow-print skirt, a ruffled white crop top from Los Angeles boutique TLZ L’Femme, and a pair of thigh-high Balenciaga boots, Cardi merged her sexy personal style with the moment’s defining look.

While the rap superstar has put a distinctive spin on Western fashion before—the glittery pink chaps and crystal-encrusted bra she wore to perform at the Houston Rodeo back in March, were pure rhinestone cowgirl—her latest look was more nuanced. Styled by Kollin Carter, it incorporated her love of body-conscious style, and a show-stopping Riccardo Tisci designed textured animal motif. With her hair in a blonde ponytail and Jennifer Fisher’s gold hoops adding a touch of bling, Cardi’s final ensemble was proof you don’t need a Stetson or fringe to incorporate a little Western flair into your wardrobe.
