Cardi B Dressed Up as the Fairy Godmother the World Needs at the 2018 Grammy Awards

Cardi B hasn’t just been making waves on the music charts since the release of her debut single “Bodak Yellow” back in June 2017—the female rapper has also been slaying the fashion game, from New York Fashion Week to Rihanna’s Diamond Ball. Her meteoric rise in the music world combined with her fearless fashion sense left fans eagerly awaiting her arrival at the 2018 Grammy Awards (where she is nominated for best rap performance and best rap song), and naturally, she did not disappoint.

Cardi B arrived to the Grammy Awards red carpet in a white lace creation fit for a fairy princess — or a rap queen, in Cardi’s case. The showstopping gown, designed by Ashi Studio, featured a voluminous skirt with a high-low hem, structured off-the-shoulder sleeves that look like wings, and a plunging neckline that combine to resemble the likes of an angel (if angels were edgy and fierce). She accessorized the look with Christian Louboutin heels, of course, her massive 8-carat engagement ring from fiancé Offset, as well as bedazzled nails that we'll be showing to our manicurists ASAP.

Before we go any further, let’s take a moment to fully appreciate the heavenly ensemble:

Nothing less than head-to-toe perfection, obvi. And while the look was designed specifically for Cardi, the decision to wear white — a tribute to the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements — came down to the wire, according to Mohammed Ashi (the Beirut-based fashion designer behind the custom look). “We were originally working with a color but, at the last minute, we decided not to introduce any colors,” Ashi, who also designed her performance look, told The Hollywood Reporter about the gown. “We made something very theatrical and powerful in terms of the structure of the dress, so the structure will speak more loudly than the color.”

Kollin Carter, Cardi B’s stylist, also told THR that “she will look like a butterfly on the red carpet, like she has wings.” Carter added, "Let’s just say that by the end of the carpet, she’ll be America’s angel." Whether you think Cardi B looks like a butterfly, angel, our personal fairy godmother, or all of the above, one thing is for certain: Her Grammys look is simply too pure, too magical for this world. We are not worthy.
