Cardi B Was the Best Part About the 2018 Grammys Red Carpet

Cardi B hasn’t just been making waves on the music charts since the release of “Bodak Yellow” last summer—the female rapper has also been slaying the fashion game, from New York Fashion Week to Rihanna’s Diamond Ball and, of course, the red carpet. So already leading up to the 2018 Grammy Awards (where she is nominated for best rap performance and best rap song), fans were eagerly awaiting her look. And, naturally, Cardi B did not disappoint.

The double nominee arrived to the Grammys red carpet in a white lace creation fit for a fairy princess—or a rap queen, in Cardi’s case. The show-stopping gown, designed by Ashi Studio, featured a voluminous skirt with a high-low hem, structured off-the-shoulder sleeves.

Behold, a lewk.

Of course, Cardi B had to accessorize her Grammys ensemble with red-soled shoes (in this case, Christian Louboutin), and the massive 8-carat engagement ring she received from fiancé Offset.

The dress was designed specifically for Cardi, but the decision to wear white—a tribute to the Time’s Up and Me Too movements—came down to the wire, according to Mohammed Ashi, the Beirut-based designer who created it. “We were originally working with a color but, at the last minute, we decided not to introduce any colors,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “We made something very theatrical and powerful in terms of the structure of the dress, so the structure will speak more loudly than the color.”

Kollin Carter, Cardi B’s stylist, added: “She will look like a butterfly on the red carpet, like she has wings... Let’s just say that by the end of the carpet, she’ll be America’s angel."

Whether you think Cardi B looks like a butterfly, angel, our personal fairy godmother, or all of the above, one thing is for certain: You've got to bow down to Queen Cardi for this look.
