Cardi B's Makeup Artist Shares All the Details of Her 2018 Met Gala Look

Though this year's Met Gala is Cardi B's first, she already has some love for the event. She and now-fiancé Offset made their first appearance as an official couple at a Met Gala afterparty last year, according to Elite Daily, and she glowed while attending his Met Gala-themed birthday party this past December. Now, she can say she's been to the real deal (with Rihanna as a host, no less), and she's gone full-on with the theme of heavenly bodies.

Make-up artist Erika La' Pearl helped create the perfect Met Gala-ready look for Cardi with Marc Jacobs Beauty, which seems to have become her go-to makeup when she revealed her pregnancy on Saturday Night Live in April. However, La' Pearl opted for a drugstore brand when it came to topping off the look with false lashes, looking to Kiss's Lash Couture Triple Push-Up Teddy lashes ($7) for dramatic eye fringe.

"While I am prepping the skin, I allow my lash glue to dry and become tacky on a flat surface so that I can pop it right on the lash line once I finish with her eye shadow blending," La' Pearl tells Allure — a tip anyone can steal for themselves. Speaking of eye shadow, "I created a cut crease incorporating black and purple eyeshadow for on-trend beauty," La' Pearl says of the classic-yet-edgy Met Gala eye look she did for Cardi B, who has "beautiful almond-shaped eyes."

From her Instagram story, it looks like La' Pearl used Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Youthful Look Foundation, Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter, and the #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder.

Amazingly, La' Pearl has figured out a way to prevent almost all of Cardi B's makeup from budging throughout a major event. "I ensure that Cardi's makeup doesn’t move throughout the evening," she tells Allure. "Cardi has amazing skin, so the only product she needs is her lip color," she says about sending her client onto the red carpet, with barely any need for touch-ups.
