Most of us look at Cara Delevinge and just see one of the world's hottest supermodels. But Cara is also really open suffering rom depression and body image issues before — and last night, she addressed them both on Twitter.

In August 2015, Cara said she would be focusing on her acting career because modeling was making her unhappy.  "I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge," she told London's Times . "It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse. . . Modeling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while. It didn't make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old."

After appearing in Paper Towns and Pan last year, Cara is back in the modeling game as the new face of Saint Laurent's "La Collection de Paris."

This may seem like a 360 from her earlier comments about leaving modeling, so Cara took to Twitter last night to explain. She clarified that wasn't blaming the fashion industry as a whole for her body image struggles and she took a break from modeling to take care of her own mental health.

"Can we just set the record straight. . ." Cara tweeted. "I never said I was quitting modeling. . . I do not blame the fashion industry for anything. . . I suffer from depression and was a model during a particularly rough patch of self hatred."

Cara explained that she feels fortunate to work in the industry, but she needed a mental reboot. ". . . I used work to try and escape and just ended up completely exhausting myself," she tweeted. "I am focusing on filming and trying to learn how to not pick apart my every flaw. I am really good at that."

She also added a link to an Instagram post that advised her readers to stop "crying over and over again about the people who hurt you."

It's enormously powerful when someone like Cara Delevingne speaks up about having depression and body image issues and also that she's showing how important it is to take care of our mental health. Everyone may not have the option to take a break from a career like Cara, but everyone does have smaller changes they can make in their own lives to be happy and healthy. We're thrilled Cara is in a better place and know she'll kick ass at whatever she chooses to do.
