There's not long to wait until Captain Marvel finally graces us with its presence, and now a new Russian TV spot has made that wait just a little more unbearable than before. Especially if you're into outdated tech.

Ahead of Captain Marvel's release next month, a new trailer has arrived featuring our first look at Nick Fury's infamous pager in action since that Infinity War post-credits scene.

And thanks to the good people of Reddit, we now know what Nick Fury and Carol Danvers are actually talking about in Russian. Brie Larson's hero asks: "Is it a communicator?" To which Samuel L Jackson's character replies: "Pager-cutting edge," before he's forced to hand it over.

In other totally '90s news, Jackson's intense pager moment at the end of Infinity War was almost shot with a completely different bit of tech.

Explaining the concept behind Nick Fury's pager design, concept artist Fausto De Martini recently revealed that his all-important SOS message was nearly sent with a PalmPilot.

"Captain Marvel Pager design I did for Avengers, Infinity War!" he wrote alongside his version of the beeper. "The final design was based on a previous version done by another artist."

Nostalgic tech aside, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has hinted at why Captain Marvel is set in the '90s – aside from the fact that, y'know, it's just "fun".

"It allows us to play in an area that we have never played in before," he explained. "[We were] able to see an earlier part of the MCU before Nick Fury knew anything about aliens or anything about super-powered people."
