As more of us return to in-person office spaces, and reacquainting ourselves with earlier wake-up alarms, desk lunches, and two-way commutes, we need to do what we can to make the experience an enjoyable one.

Cap'n Crunch seems to feel our pain and he's trying to help in his own, seafaring way. That's right: for three days this month, New York City-based commuters can ride a free water taxi that looks just like the S.S. Guppy. The "Cap'n's Commute" will run from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. from Tuesday, August 9 through Thursday, August 11.

The full schedule is available on the Cap'n's Commute website, but the "ship" will make stops at the following ports in Manhattan and Brooklyn:

  • Pier 11 at Wall St.

  • Pier 16 at South Street Seaport

  • East 34th St. in Manhattan

  • N. Williamsburg at N. 6th St. and Kent Ave

  • Battery Park City at Vesey St. and North End Ave

"When balancing work, family and everything in between, it's easy to get lost in the monotony of the day-to-day. That's why Cap'n Crunch is on a mission to help bring joy to everyday moments around the breakfast table and beyond, including the morning commute," Kristin Kroepfl, Vice President and CMO of Quaker Foods North America, said in a statement. "The Cap'n's Commute gives fans a unique opportunity to disrupt some of the everyday sameness with a little adventure and unrivaled crunch where they least expect it."

As of this writing, many online bookings have been fully reserved, but the S.S. Guppy will be accepting "a limited number of walk-ons"on a first-come, first-serve basis." Passengers who are lucky enough to make it onboard can help themselves to complementary Goodlife Coffee and "a variety of Cap'n Crunch products," and of course the entire vessel is just screaming to be Instagrammed.

There's also some limited-edition Cap'n's Commuter merch available, including custom-painted sneakers, t-shirts, and bucket hats all designed by artist Chad Cantcolor. To enter the giveaway for this ultra-limited swag, you'll need to follow the @RealCapnCrunch account on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and reply to one of their sweepstakes posts with the hashtag #CapnsCommuteSweepstakes. The posts go live today, August 3, and the Cap'n will be accepting entries until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 11.

Good luck, and here's to smooth, cereal-filled sailing.
