A new announcement from Capital One continues to expand its travel program, with luxury perks at forthcoming "Premier Collection" hotels and new lounges with food-and-beverage programming by José Andrés.

The travel experience will soon get more luxurious for select Capital One cardholders, a result of two new initiatives announced today, as Capital One continues to expand its luxury offerings.

First, Capital One announced a new, elevated sit-down dining concept at upcoming airport lounges – dubbed “Capital One Landing” – in partnership with the José Andrés Group. As of now, Capital One has one lounge, which opened at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) last year, complete with Peloton bikes, nap pods, and regionally inspired meals.

Travelers will also be able to take advantage of exclusive perks at a curated selection of luxury hotels worldwide, through a newly unveiled program that Capital One is calling its “Premier Collection.”

These upcoming products are a continuation of Capital One’s investment in the travel space over the past year. “We’ve been building something that solves problems at every phase of the journey from the start at booking all the way through to the destination,” Matt Knise, managing vice president and head of Capital One Travel, told Travel + Leisure.

The McLean, Virginia-based credit card issuer also launched Capital One Travel, an end-to-end online booking experience in partnership with Hopper, in late 2021. It includes consumer-focused features like automated price matching and cancel-for-any-reason coverage.

Now, with Capital One Landing and the Premier Collection, travelers who are within the Capital One ecosystem — or interested in joining it — can expect even more.

High-end Airport Dining

The core aim of Capital One Landing, according to Knise, is “sit-down traditional dining for customers” and a design that “focuses on shorter stays” compared to other airport lounges (even the existing Capital One Lounge DFW).

While the key differentiator with Capital One Landing will be sit-down meals, there will be a faster, grab-and-go-style option. “We’re still working with José [Andrés] and team on exactly what we want to do for customers who do need to go quickly to the gate,” Knise added.

The experience will first debut at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and New York’s LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B (LGA), with the José Andrés Group at the helm and a unique food-and-beverage menu focusing on Spanish-style tapas. Capital One has not yet said when these spaces will open, but “will provide further details when construction gets underway,” according to a company spokesperson.

Chef, humanitarian, and best-selling author José Andrés himself is involved in this project. “My team and I are working very closely to create a menu for Capital One Landing that has the flavors and dishes that inspire a sense of adventure before you even board the plane,'' Andrés told T+L.

Capital One Landing at DCA will be 5,483 square feet, located immediately post-security in the airport’s Terminal 2. At LGA, the space will be a total of 10,700 square feet, on one of the skybridges in the brand-new Terminal B. In New York, the concept will be both indoors and outdoors, offering fresh air and views of the Manhattan skyline and airfield.

Access into Capital One Landing will be announced at a later date, and those with the $395-per-year Capital One Venture X Credit Card have unlimited access to the Capital One Lounge.

Curated Luxury Hotel Perks

The Premier Collection is a curated selection of luxury hotels and resorts through Capital One Travel. A wide array of properties, from boutique design hotels in cities to resorts and villas in tropical destinations, will be available for booking before the end of this year.

A sampling of the hotels on offer include: The Ned NoMad in New York City; COMO Castello Del Nero in Italy; Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in St. Lucia; and The Carlin Hotel in New Zealand.

The Premier Collection is Capital One’s take on American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts and Chase’s Luxury Hotel Collection. Similar to those programs, Capital One is integrating its premium travel rewards credit card into the program by offering an extensive array of booking perks to cardholders.

“In terms of the sheer value that a customer can get while also staying at these world class hotels, we think it's a pretty incredible value proposition when all brought together,” Knise told T+L.

Travelers with the Capital One Venture X Credit Card earn 10x miles per dollar and have the ability to double dip on hotel loyalty points and status with select chains. In addition, Venture X cardholders will receive a suite of premium benefits including a $100 experience credit (or the local equivalent) to use on dining, spa, and other activities during their stay, daily breakfast for two, complimentary Wi-Fi, and other as available perks including early check-in, late checkout, and room upgrades.
