Capital Bikeshare offering new users free rides for limited time

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Curious about trying a bikeshare service in the District? Capital Bikeshare says now is the perfect time — it’s offering new users a code to unlock a bike for free for a limited time.

From April 16 to April 20, new users can get a free bike ride from one of the system’s stations across the Metro D.C. area with the code “TRYCABI416B.” The service offers both classic and electric bikes.

To get the free ride, you should first download the Capital Bikeshare app — or head to the Lyft app.

You should then find the Capital Bikeshare station that’s closest to where you are. Scan the QR code on the bike you like — and once you do, the bike will unlock, and you’re ready to go.

The service’s normal unlock fee is $1 — it’s then $0.05 per minute for classic bikes or $0.15 per minute for an ebike.

You’ll need to return your bike to an empty dock at a station close to your destination. Wait until the light turns green, and you’re good to continue with your day.

You can find a map of bikes and stations online.
