There is no escaping the presence of Windmill's AC on social media. I come across it often, wondering if it's really that quiet and worth the cult fanbase, and I can happily confirm that I am officially an honorary member.
After one of the most inconsistent summers ever, I would've slept in a pool of sweat each night without this AC. My bedroom receives the most light, the sun beaming onto my windows and walls like a customized sauna. Some days, I appreciate the sunlight for a golden hour selfie, but most of the time, it requires me to turn on fans to cool down as I get ready. When I had the opportunity to sample the Windmill AC, I looked up to my incredibly old, non-working AC unit and agreed! Thankfully, it is the only reason I was able to keep my cool this summer.

The obsession with Windmill's AC is all in it's design. Gone are the bulky, early 2000s grills and buttons, and in its stead are hidden, slim buttons and a digital screen. Basically, it's the cutest AC unit on the market! This Wi-Fi-enabled air conditioner is compatible with Alexa and Google, and includes a mobile app that allows you to control the air from your phone and maintain a cooling schedule. Kiss your nights of waking up at 2 a.m. to adjust the temperature in your bedroom goodbye. Plus, the quiet function won't disturb your peace either.

The unit is sleek with rounder corners and a flat display screen, which fades after one minute. And thanks to the eco-friendly refrigerant, R32, it's also easy on the environment. Measuring at 13.2 H by 19.4 D by 19.3 W, this beauty is available in various grills: white, "Sunset," "Lavender," "Dusk," and "Sky" to enhance your window view. The insulated window panels are pre-installed, so you don't need to hire Task Rabbit either.
Retailing in a range of $339 to $579 (depending on size), the brand offers three units, Small AC 6,000 BTU, Medium AC 8,000 BTU, and Large AC with WhsiperTech, 10,000 BTU. There are three cooling settings and three fan speeds, but all make minimal sound. Heads up before shopping, be sure to measure your window. Windmill ACs must fit in a window with a height of 14 inches and it doesn't work with slider, casement, or through-the-wall windows. Final Thoughts
Do I have a cooling mattress? Yes. Do I own cooling sheets? Absolutely. But they did not stand a chance without keeping the air on in the sweltering heat of summer. The weather was unreliable, some days jumping high and others jumping low, so I never knew what to expect. Yet, even on the hottest days, I could uncling myself from the sticky seats of the train, relying on the Windmill AC to welcome me with a cold but comforting hello. I can turn on the AC from my phone before I touch the front door!
I am proud to say all the rumors are true: Windmill lives up to the TikTok hype. I love being able to see my energy usage to cut down the bill (it automatically transitions to eco mode) and receive gentle reminders on when it is time to clean the AC. Bonus: Windmill also offers durable, water-proof AC covers for the winter, so you are all set to enjoy the beauty it brings even when the hot seasons are over.
