Cannondale Recalls Popular Dirt Jump Frame, Instructs Owners To Stop Riding Immediately

Cannondale has issued an emergency recall of all Dave dirt jumpers from model year 2021 to 2023. They urge owners to stop riding them immediately and to contact their local dealer for a free replacement frame.

Here is the company's official statement.

The issue appears to be that the headtube weld has been failing at a consistent rate. Cannondale elaborated on the specifics of why they issued the recall in the comments, "The bicycle headtube/downtube weld can become damaged, and separate from the bicycle frame, posing fall and injury hazards. If you have a Cannondale Model Year 2021-23 Dave bicycle or bicycle frameset, please refrain from riding it until a Cannondale dealer can replace it. Please contact your local authorized Cannondale dealer or Cannondale to arrange for an authorized Cannondale dealer to replace the bicycle frame at no charge."

Manufacturing supply chains and quality control got a bit scrambled during the pandemic, to say the least. So, this is not the first recall we have seen for those model years of a product and it will certainly not be the last. The best thing you can do as an owner of this bike is to follow Cannondale's guidelines, they will get you back up and running in no time.
