When it comes to figuring out what you're gonna eat on Christmas, the options can be overwhelming: glazed ham! roast! seven fishes! But no matter what savory main you choose, the dessert is where you can have some fun. My fam always goes Italian on Christmas in homage to my late grandma Adele, but I try to get creative with how we finish the meal.
Last year I did a classic NY cheesecake for my grandpa (he's obsessed) and a fruit compote to go on top, and this year I'm def making this cheesecake. What other time of year can you eat candy canes?! This peppermint cheesecake is for true candy cane lovers ONLY. There's peppermint extract mixed into the plain cheesecake batter, then on top the true candy cane treatment begins: crushed candy canes on top and two tiny candy canes because COME ON!
The crust we kept simple graham crackers, but you could obviously go chocolate (this peppermint chocolate cheesecake recipe uses peppermint Oreos) or even Nilla Wafers. I didn't want to distract from the pure peppermint flavor. Merry merry!
