Candace Cameron Bure and Valerie Bure are celebrating 25 years of marriage this month, but Candace is the first to admit that she’s “terrible” at anniversaries.

“We are exchanging gifts, although I’m terrible at anniversary gifts. I’m the worst,” she recently told Us Weekly. She admitted that Val tends to be much more thoughtful than her when it comes to special occasions. “Val always comes up with something that’s wonderful and theme related, meaning it’s 25 years. … It’s silver. So he will for sure get something that has silver.”

But the actress is at least proud of herself for making an effort this year. “I have something that is really small and not expensive, but I had something custom made,” she revealed. “So that felt a little extra on my part, but it’s not extravagant.”

To continue the celebration, the pair have a vacation planned. “We are going to go away to Northern California for a few days to just spend a couple of days together. We have some dinners at [our] favorite restaurants, and we’re just going to enjoy the coast and the beach and one another,” the Hallmark movie star shared.

After over a year of staying indoors together and working through some sore spots in their marriage, they’ve earned themselves a getaway. Candace previously opened up about how lockdowns tested their relationship.

“It got really hairy after the first few months, like bad,” she told Yahoo! Lifestyle. “All the things that we have avoided for years talking about, they all surfaced and they were in our face and it was unavoidable to actually have these discussions with one another and work through the real deal crap.”

She added that her kids—Natasha, 22, Lev, 21, and Maksim, 19—kept them grounded during that tumultuous time. “My children were the biggest influence in helping my husband and me work through it,” she said. “And since then, the relationship has grown even closer and tighter. There’s always hills and valleys, no matter what. But when you come out of the valley, it is like, hallelujah. You feel like you can accomplish anything. And that’s what this pandemic felt like.”

So, whether or not Candace is good at them, an anniversary celebration is definitely in order.
