Candace Cameron Bure Dishes About DJ and Steve (and Why They’re the Most Relatable ‘90s Couple)

The ‘90s gave us Cory and Topanga. Zach and Kelly. Dylan and Brenda. But, somehow, when examining our favorite TV couples to grace the small screen during that decade, DJ and Steve—ahem, Candace Cameron Bure and Scott Weinger—were hands-down the most relatable and down-to-earth. But how come?

Lucky for us, Cameron Bure recently stopped by the PureWow offices in New York City to unveil her brand-new holiday décor line called “Simply Christmas.” That meant we had the chance to ask her in person about the decades-spanning love story of DJ and Steve, a romance that began on Full House and resurfaced in Fuller House. (Hello, it’s one of the main reasons we love tuning in.)

“With DJ and Steve, there’s that nostalgic dream because they were high school sweethearts,” Cameron Bure says. “And if that works out, who doesn’t want that?”

But Cameron Bure is also clear on what really makes their relationship sing. “Steve and DJ are perfectly dorky together and I think that’s why they’re so cute. They’re both down to earth and they’re silly and they’re just good together.” It’s as simple as that.

As for saying goodbye to Fuller House in the fifth and final season of the Netflix show, Cameron Bure admits that it’s hard. “We’re all so sad, but this season is a great one and there are 18 episodes, so it’s longer than the others.” She also teased that one of the characters will walk down the aisle. “I can’t give a ton of details as to who or when or where, but there’s definitely going to be a wedding.”

No spoilers here, but the first half of season five dropped on December 6. You know what you have to do.
