How To Cancel All of Your Subscriptions in One Fell Swoop

Do you really need that monthly subscription you only used once? Probably not.

Ah, those pesky subscriptions. You know—the ones you don't even remember that you're paying for. Auto-pay has revolutionized the way people pay their bills, but one of its downfalls is definitely this: a long list of subscriptions you forgot you're even paying. If you're getting charged for things you don't use or don't want, it's time to know how to cancel all of your subscriptions in one fell swoop.

And there's no better time than now to tackle this task! After all, it's the start of a new year and whether you want to get rid of emails that pile up, simplify your streaming service options or want to figure out how to cancel subscriptions on iPhones, we've got various apps and best practices to help you start 2023 on the right foot.

How do I see all my subscriptions?

First things first, in order to cancel all of your subscriptions, you need to be able to see all the subscriptions you're signed up for. Many people are signed up for subscriptions on different modicums—email, Apple iOs, Android, streaming services, or others through a third party. So, how do you see it all at once?

One of the easiest ways to see all your subscriptions is to use a subscription-tracking tool that goes through your bank statements, then provides you with a list of all your automatic payments.

Some of the most common subscription-tracking tools include:

  • Empower: This app is a subscription in itself, but its main goal is to repair credit and "make credit more inclusive." Still, perhaps one of its handiest features is the list of how much you've spent on each service as well as account balances. With Empower, you can cancel or you can renegotiate your monthly/annual fee.

  • Rocket Money: On the Rocket Money app or website, click 'Recurring Tab.' On mobile it will be on the bottom left; on the web, it will be on the upper left. Tap 'All,' which will unlock the full list of your current subscriptions. Now, select each subscription you'd like to unlist from by taping the three dots to its right. Lastly, tap 'Cancel Service.'

  • ScribeUp: Unlike the other third-party tools on this list, ScribeUp is actually a Google Chrome extension you can add to your web browser. It picks up on the subscriptions you're paying for but not actually using. It also notifies you before you're charged and it even offers cashback rewards for shopping at certain merchants.

  • Trim: Trim is unique in that it mostly handles everything via text message. It analyzes your spending patterns and can even negotiate your cable, internet and phone bill fees so you can pay less. It also gives you the option to cancel old subscriptions, but again, you'll have to do that bit via text.

  • Truebill: Have you heard of Truebill? Despite their extensive advertising, things at Truebill have recently changed. It's actually been bought out by Rocket Money!

How to cancel all of your subscriptions

If you don't want to use a third-party subscription-tracking tool, there are other ways to cancel all your subscriptions in one fell swoop.

Email subscriptions

Let's start with email subscriptions—you know, those newsletters you don't read and those tantalizing 10% off codes sent by stores that want you to spend money. If you're ready to cut the cord with those, start clicking "unsubscribe" on every email sent by a service provider. This must be done manually, but it's worth cleaning out your spam or promotions folder.

Gmail subscriptions

Do you have Gmail? Gmail makes it a little easier to unsubscribe from unwanted emails and newsletters. You can go to your "promotions," "trash," and "spam" folders and delete the emails by "select all." If you want to delete all of your unread emails in Gmail, just search "is:unread," select all emails, and approve the deletion transaction.

The best approach is to search through your emails for any subscriptions. Cancel the subscriptions by emailing the service providers. If this proves elusive then go through your bank statements going back for 12 months. Look out for regular subscriptions that you forgot or are fraudulent. Cancel them via corresponding websites or by emailing the respective companies.

Website subscriptions

Sometimes website subscriptions are the trickiest. If you're not constantly checking your billing statements, these auto-charges could sneak right on by.

CashApp Cancelation

CashApp is a mobile money transfer app that allows users to pay in either money, Bitcoin and/or stocks. But if you've been swindled into a subscription you don't want anymore, canceling is pretty simple.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, go to your account and click on your name within the app. Tap 'Subscriptions,' and then tap your Apple ID. Sign in, then click on the particular  CashApp subscription you want to remove. Then, tap 'Cancel.'

Alternatively, Android users can cancel their CashApp subscription by going to the Google Playstore, tapping 'Menu,' and then 'Subscriptions.' Find the 'Cashapp Subscription' button for the particular one you want to remove, then tap 'Cancel Subscription.'

If you want to get rid of your account in its entirety (the app itself is free by the way), you can do so by opening the app, clicking 'Menu,' then 'Support,' then 'Something Else.' Tap 'Edit Account Settings' then 'Close My Cash App Account.' Make sure to confirm once more by clicking 'Close Account.'

Google Subscriptions

You may have subscriptions through Google either on your Android, computer, or iPad and iPhone. Such subscriptions may include Google One or non-prescription drug listings from online pharmacies.

On Android devices, open your Settings, go to Google, then 'Manage Google Account.' Tap 'Payments and Subscriptions,' then 'Manage Purchases.' Select subscriptions or reservations you'd like to remove.

On a computer, iPad, or iPhone, open your Account on Google. On the left, click the three vertical lines, then tap 'Payments and Subscriptions.' Then, click 'Manage Purchases,' where you will find a list of all your purchases. You can renew or cancel from here.

OnlyFans Cancelation

One of the most annoying websites to unsubscribe from is OnlyFans. But there is a way! You could always email their customer support, but if you want a faster, more fool-proof solution, log into your OnlyFans account and search the user's profile that you want to remove. Turn off 'Auto-Renew' and then confirm. If you are subscribed to more than one profile, you will have to manually unsubscribe from each.

ProBiller Cancelation

ProBiller is a third party of sorts, so if you're paying ProBiller, it's probably not the company itself but rather, one of its merchants it has a relationship with.

The best way to cancel any ProBiller subscription is to call their helpdesk and get connected with a customer support agent. Once you are talking to a customer support agent, specify which service you want to unsubscribe from, and confirm a refund on the previously-charged fee.

Streaming service subscriptions

If you pay for multiple streaming services (even ones you don't know about or don't even have anymore), a third-party subscription-tracking tool might be most effective.

Still, there's another way too, but you'll have to go into the website or app for each service.

If you want to cancel Amazon Prime, you can do so at Amazon.com. This will get you a refund, but how much you'll be refunded depends on the features you've used up until now.

Alternatively, you can choose to not renew the membership. Go to 'Membership Management' at Prime Central. Just note, the primary member on the account is the only one with the ability to cancel or not auto-renew.

AppleTV Plus can be canceled on either your Mac or other Apple devices like an iPad or iPhone. To cancel on a computer, go to the App Store, click your name, and then tap 'Account Settings.' Find 'Manage,' then 'Subscriptions.' Click on 'Manage' again, then 'Edit' next to the subscription you want to remove. Select 'Cancel Subscription.'

Canceling on an iPad or iPhone is a little easier. Go to 'Settings,' tap your name, then 'Subscriptions.' Click on the one you want to get rid of, then click 'Cancel Subscription.'

In order to cancel a Disney Plus subscription, go to the website and then onto your profile. Tap 'Account' then click 'Subscription.' Next, scroll down to where it says 'Cancel Subscription.'

If you subscribed to ESPN+ directly through its website, you can cancel by logging in and tapping 'Manage,' then 'Cancel Subscription.' But if you signed up through a third-party service—like a Hulu bundle, Roku or Verizon—you will have to go to that service's help center.

For HBO Max, you have until two days before the next billing cycle charges to cancel. To cancel, go to the HBO Help Page and follow the prompts.

To cancel Hulu, follow the directions on this Hulu Help Page. There's also an option to pause your subscription—up to 12 weeks—so if you're unsure about canceling, you could try out that option first.

Go to Netflix and go into your profile, then tap 'Account.' Here is your account page, which will have a button on the left that says 'Cancel Membership.'

Paramount Plus can be canceled through the paramountplus.com website or if you've subscribed through a different service, you can follow these cancelation directions. On the website, go to your profile, select 'Account' and then 'Cancel Subscription.'

If you want to cancel a subscription to Peacock, go to your account page, then Plans and Payments, then Change Plan, then Peacock Free. This downgrades you to a free plan you don't have to pay for, but you'll still be able to use Peacock for watching a limited amount of programs. However, if you signed up through a separate service, get the cancelation directions here.

YouTube TV can be either paused or canceled at the YouTube TV Help Page. To fully delete your subscription, tap 'Cancel Now.'

How do I cancel subscriptions on my Android?

Most subscriptions on your Android device will go through Google Play (if not all). These might include apps, extra storage or something else. Either way, you can cancel all your subscriptions on Android by navigating to subscriptions in Google Play. Select the subscription you wish to remove, then tap 'Cancel Subscriptions.' If it prompts you further, just follow the instructions.

How do I cancel subscriptions on my iPhone?

On your iPhone, open Settings. Click your name, then 'Subscriptions.' Click on the subscription you'd like to remove, then scroll down until you see the 'Cancel Subscription.'
