Canadian Ski Resort Makes Difficult Decision To Not Open This Season

Mt. Timothy Ski Area, a resort near Lac la Hache, British Columbia, has announced that it will not open for skiing and riding this season, citing a "lack of snow" and "continued warm temperatures."

The resort noted that the forecast contains no indications of future precipitation, meaning an opening, if eventually possible, would likely be too late.

Those who have purchased punch cards and gift certificates can use these products next season. "We have decided to remove the expiration date on both punch cards and gift certificates, making them valid until they are used," Mt. Timothy wrote.

Passholders have been told to call the resort at 250-396-4095 to learn about their options. "We will take care of you," Mt. Timothy wrote.

To recoup some of its lost revenue, Mt. Timothy plans to operate its licensed restaurant Thursday through Sunday from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M.

While skiing and riding are off the table, the resort intends to host events and keep the stoke as high as possible: "Just because we are not open for skiing, we plan to have other alternatives."

The news is a 180 for Mt. Timothy, who, on January 20th, announced that they hoped to open "soon." However, weather is a fickle beast, and these plans apparently didn't work out. Here's to next season!
