Canadian Ski Resort Gets "Full Reset" With 51cms Of Snow

Bad winter, who?

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, British Columbia, shared yesterday that it had benefitted from a 48-hour storm cycle, depositing 51 centimeters of snow (that's about 20 inches).

As of today, Kicking Horse's 48-hour snowfall total is slightly higher, reading 54 centimeters.

It's a welcome change for the Canadian ski resort. Late January brought warm temperatures, followed by a high-pressure system, creating a nasty refreeze layer.

While I was skiing the resort last week, several locals noted that the season has proved challenging so far, with below-average snowfall.

The tides, for now, seem to be turning, though. Meteorologist Chris Tomer predicts that Kicking Horse should see additional snowfall in the coming days, with a period between February 29th and March 4th bringing up to a foot of snow.

Before that, seven inches of snow could fall today and tomorrow at Kicking Horse.

For those in less meteorologically blessed portions of North America, there's been talk of a "miracle March"—a period where our dashed powder dreams will finally come to fruition this ski season.

While the jury's still out on these hopes, the first month of spring looks set to offer a strong start, as storms, per Tomer's forecasts, batter the North American West.
