Canadian Resort Finally Opens Terrain After Shutting Down

Fernie Alpine Resort, @ferniealpineresort in BC, Canada, known for its impressive bowls and "29 feet of snowfall every season", recently had to close due to a significant rain event.

But save your tears for your next wipeout! Fernie is back and better than ever.

In an Instagram post from officials at Fernie yesterday, the resort announced that "Lone Fir is OPEN!"

Lone Fir is known for racking up some solid powder.

Local magazine Fernie Fix interviewed locals a few years back about where they liked to ski. Lone Fir was mentioned as having "deep" powder, especially when it was untouched.

Lone Fir is located in Lizard Bowl, seen on the map below.

Previously, Fernie had to limit terrain due to a significant rain event.

"Due to a significant weather event, conditions are very wet and heavy. As a result, only the Elk Chair and Mighty Moose will be open today."

Now, many people rejoice as the "best zone on the mountain" opens for business.

Lone Fir may not be very lonesome right now, as people flock to get their laps in.

But no matter how many people ski Lizard Bowl, it's so worth it. We'll take what we can get, especially when what we can get offers a 400 vertical drop.
