Last week, at Deer Valley, Utah, Canadian mogul skier Mikael Kingsbury beat out Ingemar Stenmark to become the winningest man in FIS World Cup history with 87 first-place finishes.

It's noteworthy that Stenmark wasn't a mogul skier. His discipline of choice was alpine ski racing.

Yet, since the FIS—a large snowsports governing body—oversees both World Cup alpine racing and moguls, those pursuing the overall World Cup win record are lumped into the same category, regardless of discipline.

On the off chance that you've been living under a rock, the current winningest World Cup skier is Mikaela Shiffrin, who's visited the top of the podium 95 times. Hence, the "winningest man" caveat next to Kingsbury's recently nabbed record.

To claim the record, Kingsbury laced a blistering run at Deer Valley.

"When I saw number one, I just realized like, 'Oh ****, I just hit 87,'" Kingsbury said in an article published by the ParkRecord. "I remember as a kid looking to the FIS history book on the internet and I thought 86 was a stupid big amount of wins, and it wouldn't be reachable by any athlete."

Ikuma Horishima and Filip Greavenfors placed second and third against Kingsbury, respectively.
