Canada's Kicking Horse Finally Confirms Opening Day

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, British Columbia, has shared that it will open on Friday, December 8th, as originally planned, despite a month of warmer-than-usual weather conditions.

The announcement likely comes as a relief to local skiers—the resort previously stated that December 8th was a "tentative" opening date.

Kicking Horse cites a recent western storm as the key to its opening day announcement, "Thanks to this last-minute storm, we are pumped to announce that we are back on track." According to the resort, more snow is on the way. Over a foot of snow has fallen at Kicking Horse in the past week.

Opening-day terrain availability has yet to be announced, with Kicking Horse noting that the run and lift offerings come Friday are still being determined.

Similarly, Kicking Horse issued an important warning to skiers, "Please be mindful that there will be more natural hazards than usual. Take it easy, ride cautiously, and ensure a safe start to the season!"

The recent snowfall has benefitted another beleaguered western Canadian resort: Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Unseasonably low snowfall forced Revy to delay its planned opening date—now the resort is locked in for December 9th.

It's an exciting turn of events for our friends up north. For now, concerns of barren hillsides and stagnant lifts are a thing of the past. Game on!
