From Britney to Beyoncé to Rihanna, the VMAs were all about strong women. But things looked a little more traditional at the VMAs’ afterparty, where Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West, Alicia Keys and Cassie posted for a photo with their husbands in which each woman stood placidly behind her husband in an echo of a 1950s housewife.

The photo, which Kardashian West tweeted from her account, shows couples Keys and Swizz Beatz, Beyoncé and Jay Z, Kanye West and Kardashian West, Sean Combs and Cassie, and Steve Stoute and Lauren Branche partying after the VMAs. In the shot, the men are seated at a table looking loose with a sprawled posture (there might even be some manspreading going on under that table) while the women cluster around behind them, standing.

It’s Time to Stop Co-Opting Women’s Big Accomplishments With Marriage Proposals

On one hand, look at the collection of icons in this pic. And the relationship goals. On the other hand, why don’t any of the women get chairs? Some Twitter users wondered the same:

E! News reports that the friends met up at Pasquale Jones in New York City a little after midnight and partied into the wee hours. The photo comes after questions about whether Drake’s romantic speech distracted from Rihanna’s personal achievements as she accepted the Video Vanguard Award.

Best of the 2016 VMAs Red Carpet

Most of the women in this picture are hugely successful performers and entrepreneurs so we sincerely think that they deserve to kick back and enjoy the fruits of their labors. In particular, Beyoncé both won the Video the Year award and slayed in a 15-minute performance of Lemonade, while Jay Z wasn’t even at the show. Let Beyoncé sit down, Jay, she’s tired!
