‘Camp Kindergarten’ ready to help Manhattan children excel in the classroom

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Registration is now open for the ninth year of “Camp Kindergarten” in the Little Apple.

Children in this four-week camp will find themselves in a classroom setting for half-day sessions in morning or afternoons. The camp is open and free for children eligible to start Kindergarten this fall.

Kids attending the program will learn skills to help them transition to Kindergarten with special emphasis on social and emotional skills. KSNT 27 News talked to an outreach coordinator to find out who should attend Camp Kindergarten.

“We encourage anyone to apply,” Chelsea Manwarren, outreach coordinator for Raising Riley said. “We’re really looking for families and children, and especially those kids that haven’t been able to experience a daycare or preschool setting.”
