Camilla Wears a Meaningful Accessory at Queen Elizabeth II's Funeral

Queen Camilla honored the late Queen Elizabeth II today while attending her funeral.The wife of King Charles III arrived with him at Westminster Abbey in London this morning in a black mourning look. The outfit was composed of black coat dress with matching stockings and shoes, as well as a black fascinator embellished with flower appliqués and a netted veil.

She carried a black clutch bag and accessorized with various bracelets, rings, diamond earrings, and a diamond brooch gifted to her, presumably by Queen Elizabeth II, when she married King Charles III in 2005 and therefore joined the royal family.

The piece is Queen Victoria's striking Hesse Diamond Jubilee brooch, which Camilla has worn to various engagements over the years. The brooch features the number sixty in Slavonic characters, covered in diamonds, surrounded by a diamond heart with a sapphire at the top and two sapphire pendants. It was a Diamond Jubilee gift to Queen Victoria from her Hessian grandchildren, given to her in 1897.

Camilla, who was given the title of queen consort by Queen Elizabeth II herself, previously honored the late monarch with her accessories. For the processional to the historic St. Giles' Cathedral last week, Camilla wore the diamond thistle brooch gifted to her by the late queen.

Today at the queen's funeral, Camilla stood next to Meghan Markle, Princess Kate and her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. King Charles III stood nearby, wearing his military uniform as a sign of respect for his mother.

The funeral service began at 11 a.m. U.K. time, and was attended by the queen's surviving family members, as well as royals from other countries, and world leaders.

Following the funeral, the late monarch will be laid to rest at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same place her husband of more than 70 years, Prince Philip, was buried following his death last year.
