If you don’t already have big weekend plans, it’s time to make them—because this makeup look is begging for a night on the town. Last night, Camilla Belle looked elegant and sultry at the Guggenheim International Gala Dinner, where both her gown and makeup were by Dior.

“Camille wanted the focus to be on her eyes for more of an evening look,” says her makeup artist for the night, Walter Obal. “The gown was so gorgeous and the gunmetal beading was so beautiful, so we wanted to reflect that.”

To draw attention to Belle’s eyes, Obal used Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow in Carré Bleu. (For a budget-friendly palette, similar hues can be found in Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Steel Blues.) “I highlighted her eyes with the lightest shade in the palette, using a fluffy brush to put the color all over her lid and up to the brow,” Obal says. He then lined Belle’s waterline with Diorshow Liner Waterproof in Carbon before using the same liner to emphasize her eyes, making the line thickest at the upper outer corners.

Next, he set the liner with the darkest shade from the eyeshadow palette before blending it with a tight, fluffy brush. This technique created a gradated wash of blue that covered Belle’s lids. “It looks like different shades, but it’s just that dark blue,” Obal says. He then smudged the liner underneath Belle’s lower lashes to emphasize her hazel-eyed gaze.

Obal applied individual lashes on Belle before applying Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara in It-Black. (If you’re shopping the drugstore, look for a volumizing mascara.) “Camilla has incredible, incredible eyebrows,” Obal says. He filled them in with Diorshow Brow Styler in Universal Brown; if you’re looking to groom your brows at home, choose a product that matches your hair color.

With the eyes finished, Obal moved on to the rest of Belle’s face. After moisturizing skin, he applied Diorskin Nude Foundation in Light Beige. Obal used a damp sponge; we like Sonia Kashuk’s version. Obal also perfected Belle’s complexion with Diorskin Star Concealer. (Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer is a good budget-friendly option.) Obal did a little light contouring with a nude matte bronzer, focusing on Belle’s cheeks and temples. To create a pretty glow, he applied a hint of the same bronzer and Diorblush Vibrant Color Powder Blush in My Rose, a slightly shimmery pink.

For a finishing touch, Obal slicked on Rouge Dior Lipstick in in Trompe L’Oeil, a barely-there nude. (Try Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Front Row for a similarly soft look.) The end result: this week’s strongest and most sophisticated face.
