Camila Morrone Is Embracing One of Fashion's Biggest Current Trends

Camila Morrone's a Chanel regular at this point: The actor attended her first ready-to-wear show in Paris last year, for Spring 2023, but has traveled with the brand and worn its pieces to many events and red carpets over the years. Naturally, it's had an impact on how she dresses.

"I started working with the brand a few years ago. It's my first time being connected with a French house — it's the only one I've ever worked with, and it was always a dream to be a part of this specific house, in this moment, with Virginie designing," the "Daisy Jones and the Six" star says, at the Spring 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week (sitting just a few feet away from cast mate Riley Keough). "I'm very inspired by Parisian style and French style. I think what speaks to me is the effortlessness of a French woman, and that's something they've mastered, how to look really elegant and chic, while also being very natural and having sophistication. This is a very fine balance, and I think Chanel does it so well. EverythingI own from Chanel is timeless; I know I'll wear [these pieces] for the rest of my life. They don't have an expiration date."

Morrone's started putting ribbon bows in her hair (she had an excellent one at the show on Tuesday) and throwing on crossbody bags. She'll find herself wearing tweed and mixing metals. "It's a natural part of my life," she says, of these Chanel brand hallmarks that have infiltrated her wardrobe. "I can dress up today to come to the show, and tomorrow when I fly back to New York, I'll be wearing my version of [the look]. It takes me from this glamorous show in France to home."

To the Spring 2024 show, Morrone picked out a black tank dress crafted out of a thin tweed, having been drawn to the feminine silhouette and the lightweight material. She added some "nods to the French woman" in her mixed cuff bracelets and bow in her hair. "I always go simple and timeless," she explains. "I've been very lucky to wear pieces from Chanel that embody who I am."

Sitting at the show, the actor doesn't shop the runway — instead, she prefers to really take in the whole scene: "I look at the women and the way they're wearing [the collection]. I look at the way the clothes move when they walk. I like the music that you feel under your seat. I love watching the materials and the way that they shine in these specific lights. It's a lot of energy."

She does take advantage of being in Paris, though. "I got to go to the atelier and to Gabrielle's apartment," Morrone says. She'll "eat a lot of incredible French food, have some wine and do some shopping... I was able to get some ribbons from Chanel and Maison Michel for my hair. I'm in my ribbon era. It's just easy, to elevate an outfit."
