Camila Mendes Supported Boyfriend Charles Melton’s New Movie "The Sun Is Also a Star" and Revealed Why She Fell in Love With Him

Camila Mendes and Charles Melton are pretty much the epitome of #couplegoals — from matching bunny hats to fake tattoos and glamorous Met Gala appearances.

Since the Riverdale actors made their relationship Instagram official back in October, “Charmila” has taken the concept of adorable to another level. But Camila’s latest Instagram tribute to Charles goes one step further.

To celebrate the premiere of Charles’s new movie, The Sun Is Also a Star, Camila penned a heartfelt letter to her boyfriend that she shared alongside the film’s trailer. “I remember the day @melton told me about this project. we were still just friends then. he hadn’t even been cast yet. they hadn’t even started casting. all he told me was ‘i’m going to play this role, i am daniel bae’,” Cami captioned the post confirming Charles’s instant attraction to the part.

“Aside from having the biggest heart out of anyone i know, his passion and tenacity are part of the reason i fell in love with him. watching him throw his entire heart and soul into this story of love taught me a lot about the kind of person he is,” Cami continued, adding: “i’m probably sharing too much, but before we started dating he’d often get mad at me for trying to bring logic into love. he taught me that love doesn’t have an explanation, it either exists or it doesn’t.”

Aaand if you aren’t bawling at this point, you’re about to be. “It was his vulnerability not only as an actor, but also as a man, that taught me that valuable message, one that is so relevant to this film. i’m so proud of you charles, and so grateful to have witnessed this beautiful journey of yours. can’t wait for the world to see what you’re capable of,” she finally wrote before signing off with a heart emoji and a gleeful “happy premiere day!!”

Of course, Charles found the perfect answer for Cami’s sweet words, commenting a simple “I love you.”

In her Teen Vogue May cover interview, Camila opened up about how her relationship to social media has changed. "I'm not a private person. I don't like hiding. But the more I get used to this lifestyle the more I reevaluate what I want to share and what I don't," she admitted then. So her deciding to share this momentous occasion (and a personal love story) with her followers is definitely no small thing.
