Camila Mendes Designs "Reformed Mean Girl" Shirt for Represent

Camila Mendes's Veronica Lodge isn't your stereotypical queen bee. The Riverdale protagonist is a self-professed "former mean girl," who wants to devote her time helping the Ethel Muggses of Riverdale High, rather than tear them down. (Come on, the Bulldogs have Cheryl Blossom to deal with, and she is more than enough on any given day.) And now the actress is taking that inspiration into an IRL campaign to end girl-on-girl bullying.

On Monday, she unveiled a shirt she designed with Represent, called the "Reformed Mean Girl" tee. The graphic on the top displays an illustration of Veronica in a very V. Lodge-esque plaid mini-skirt and purple top. Appropriately, the words "reformed mean girl" are featured prominently at the bottom of the drawing, offering a retro vibe to the design that would fit right in with Veronica's comics origins. The shirt itself retails for $24.99, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Kind Campaign.

In January, Camila told Teen Vogue that Veronica seeing the error of her mean-girl ways was critical to how she approached the character. She explained that V saw moving to Riverdale from New York City as a way to "[become] a nice girl, trying to break away from the bad rep that the family has given her, and trying to establish her own identity."

What's more, Riverdale viewers know that the comics's infamous drama of Veronica and Betty fighting over Archie is a thing of the past. "It was really important for us that Betty and Veronica were friends," Camila added. And while season 2 may feature some strife between B+V, it hopefully won't be over a boy — and hopefully Veronica won't be reverting to her Regina George ways.
