Camila Cabello And Shawn Mendes’ Reunion Was Written In The Stars, Says Astrology

While it hasn't yet been confirmed, Camila Cabello fans are speculating that the "Don't Go Yet" crooner will make a surprise appearance at the Met Gala on the first Monday in May. What's more: She may be wearing Versace after fans caught wind that the "Shameless" singer started following Ms. Donatella Versace, herself, on Instagram.

With rumors that the "Bam Bam" singer-songwriter is dating again, there's also speculation that she'll bring a special someone as her date. Yes, I am talking about Shawn Mendes because you know what’s better than someone new? Someone familiar. (Don't @ me.)

ICYMI: Exes Camila Cabello, 26, and Shawn Mendes, 24, seemingly rekindled their romance in mid April after a rendezvous during the first weekend of Coachella 2023. And lest to say, the news has fans in stitches (get it?).

To recap, the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” collaborators—who split in November 2021 after dating for over two years—were spotted sharing a few kisses at the music and arts festival. According to several photos from the event, the pair seemingly spent the entire day together. But despite their PDA-filled reunion, the two are not back on, according to a source for Page Six. “Shawn and Camila remain friends,” and just “decided to meet up at Coachella since they were both going,” the source told the publication on April 17.

Sure, there’s nothing wrong with hanging out with an old flame on a platonic basis. But, do “friends” write romantic songs about each other? As Women’s Health previously reported, on April 19, the “Havana” singer shared a teaser of her new song on Instagram, and, well, I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves: “How come you’re just so much better/ Is this gunna end ever/ I guess I’ll f*ck around and find out/ Are you coming to Coachella/ If you don’t it’s whatever/ If you do, honey, it’ll be all I think about,” she sings.

If you need even more proof that something’s going on between these two, on April 25, a source told Entertainment Tonight, “Shawn and Camila aren’t officially back together, but they are enjoying each other’s company and seeing where things go.” While Camila and Shawn’s reunion may come as a surprise to some, it was written in the stars. “It’s easy to see why [Camila and Shawn] have been off and on,” says intuitive astrologer Rachel Lang. “There’s a dynamic attraction with a good balance of water and fire sign placements.”

But that’s not all Lang uncovered. While fans await new details about the status of their ‘ship and whether or not they'll walk the Met Gala carpet together, ahead, discover what Camila and Shawn’s birth charts reveal about whether these two are destined for each other or are better off as friends.

Camila’s Sun is in mutable water sign Pisces, while Shawn’s Sun is in fixed fire sign Leo. And to be quite honest, this isn’t the best pairing as Pisces is sensitive and generous, while Leo has “very different needs,” explains Lang.

Water and fire don’t really, uh, mesh well naturally, but where these two do find common ground is in their urge to create, says Lang. Leo and Pisces are both very creative signs, she explains. Not only are these two able to drum up some earworm-y tunes together (admittedly, “Señorita” still has a chokehold on me), but they can build a nice home together, too.

Also worth noting: Shawn’s Sun falls in Camila’s fourth house of family, so it’s likely that these two share similar parenting perspectives and family priorities, says Lang. “He likely feels like family to her.” Plus, as the king of the jungle (ICYDK, the sign of Leo is represented by the lion), Shawn “can feel a real sense of chivalry” towards Camila and act as her protector, says Lang.

In other words, he’ll make it a priority to safeguard both Camila and their potential future family.

But due to Venus and Mercury, there are hurdles when it comes to their communication.

Camila’s Venus (the planet of love and relationships) is in Pisces, so she likely brings a dreamy sweetness to her romantic partnerships. “She’s a giver,” says Lang. With Shawn’s Venus and Mars (the planet of action and drive) in cardinal water sign Cancer, he is also inclined to be generous in his relationships, Lang adds.

However, “[Shawn] may not always be aware of the subtle ways in which [Camila] shows her love,” says Lang. At times, he may appear selfish to her, but he may just have a lot going on in his mind, Lang says.

It doesn’t help that Shawn may struggle with communicating his feelings, too. Lang explains that at the time of Shawn’s birth, Mercury (the planet of communication) was in retrograde, and as a result, “he doesn’t always articulate what he’s feeling.” This may be frustrating for Camila, whose Mercury is in Pisces, meaning she always needs to know how her partner is feeling—if not, she can easily start to feel insecure, says Lang.

So while this pair has a psychic connection—Camila’s Mercury is in a square aspect with Shawn’s Pluto (the planet of death and rebirth) in Sagittarius—if “she doesn’t have context for what he’s feeling, she can easily create a story in her mind,” Lang says. In order for Camila to feel secure in the ‘ship, Shawn is going to have to let her in.

Because of the South Node’s influence, this connection feels familiar.

“There’s a true sense of purpose with these two,” says Lang. You can see it in the way Shawn’s Jupiter (the planet of expansion and abundance) in Pisces conjoins Camila’s South Node—a destiny point that represents your past self and the wisdom you’re born with. Lang explains that with South Node connections in astrological compatibility, “there’s a sense of familiarity.” It’s as if these two knew each other in a past life, and have reunited in this realm.

What’s more? Shawn’s Venus and Mars are in a favorable aspect with Camila’s South Node and North Node—a destiny point that represents your future self and what you’re meant to accomplish in this life—“showing a sense of destiny at work,” Lang notes.

Nevertheless, South Node connections aren’t always the easiest, says Lang, because “the relationship can feel too comfortable at times.” As a result, “it’s important that they keep growing together,” she explains. One way they can keep expanding is by keeping the passion alive—and spontaneous makeouts at Coachella seem like a solid start.
