Camila Cabello says falling in love is opening her up as an artist right now, and we're so happy for her

When Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello released their sexy new song “Señorita,” the rumors immediately began to fly. At the time, Cabello just broke up with ex Michael Hussey, and she specifically requested that fans not bring Mendes rumors into her split. Still, speculation has continued. To be clear, neither artist has confirmed if they really are dating, but now, the “Havana” singer is opening up about falling in love—even though she’s not naming any names.

In a feature article for Variety‘s “Power of Young Hollywood” issue, Cabello shared how love has influenced the music that she’s currently working on. She said that, while she was focused on “crushes from afar” while working on her first album, her new work is influenced by “now.”

Cabello did not specify who she fell in love with. She did mention Mendes, but only in the context of their collaboration. She explained that they spent eight months working on the song together, and she added that she enjoyed working with “somebody who means a lot.” Hmmm.

The rumors of Mendes and Cabello’s relationship have been fueled outlets sharing pictures of the two artists kissing in public. But, again, neither artist has confirmed that they’re dating. We’re going to let these two have some privacy and refrain from making assumptions until they say otherwise. We are, however, excited to hear the ways that Cabello’s new love has influenced her music.
