Camila Cabello only just debuted 'French Baby Bangs' and she's already remixed them with an edgy new trim we're calling 'hack-bangs'. What was a neat and cartoon-like fringe three weeks ago is now raw, blunt and jagged for a decidedly punkier look.

The star was in Paris earlier this month and fittingly got a new haircut that her stylist described as 'French baby bangs'. While it's not a term we're au fait with we totally got it.

Drawing on both the cool 'French girl' aesthetic, and the popular 'baby bangs' trend, the fringe was short enough to give that micro-fringe feel without being a drastic change.

Coiffed by hair wizard Dimitris Giannetos, we were struggling to put our finger on exactly what the curled fringe reminded us. With a distinct cartoon energy, we were wracking our brains. Was it Trixie from Fairly Odd Parents? Was it a Bratz doll? Violet from The Incredibles? A brunette Daphne from Scooby Doo? Lego? Nothing felt right.

My brain kept saying Betty Boop, perhaps due to the swoop of the bangs. But this hair was nothing like Betty Boop's short curly 'do. And that's when it hit me; she looked like a yassified Betty Boop. A 2019 Betty Boop with extensions. If you haven't seen those memes, you need to take yourself straight to IG or TikTok and search yassified. Thank us later.

Combining the bangs with the thick, dense, volumised mane of hair is likely what gave it the stylised impact that had us thinking of illustration. While her baby pink lacy outfit and matching eyeshadow courtesy of makeup artist Carolina Gonzales only added to her doll-like pin-up vibes.

Now the star has done a 180 on the cute dolly vibes, trimming the bangs into a whole new persona, it's giving Joan Jett. Who said bangs aren't versatile?
